We will continue to advocate for all law enforcement officers, especially those in the Department of Corrections, to receive the same protection.

This legislation ensures critical support for their loved ones and affirms that their service will never be forgotten. Council 4 helped pass the law to provide $100,000 in immediate relief to the families of police officers killed in the line of duty.
We were honored to witness this powerful moment alongside lawmakers and community leaders, as well as law enforcement, recognizing the bravery of public servants who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Today, AFSCME leadership proudly stood in solidarity as the Fallen Hero Fund Bill was signed into law in Connecticut.
C4 staff was excited to see State Representative Kaitlyn Shake at the Governor's ceremony for the Fallen Heroes Fund bill signing, at Hartford Fire Department Engine Co. 11.
She is one of AFSCME Council 4's strong allies and one of the closest friends of labor at the Capitol.
