Aqua, Heart, and Earth, Wind & Fire should go on tour together and call it The Captain Planet Tour.

Also, the pressure of expectations. That’s another heavy theme that runs throughout.
For me, the most prevalent theme of NGE is the burden of future generations having to clean up the messes of the generations that came before. I think that sentiment is a lot stronger in Eastern culture than is Western culture, but it permeates the whole show.
Now, we can talk some themes, because I do think there are some that are fairly easy to pick out and discuss. But the ending sucked, and the series was quite convoluted. I think GAINAX tackled a lot of the same themes infinitely better in FLCL.
Okay, I haven’t watched any of the movies yet, but I recently rewatched the original series (used to rent it from Blockbuster with my high school friends). My theory is they ran out of steam and just shoehorned an ending. If you’ve seen Demon Slayer (which I highly recommend), it’s kinda the same.
Yet another successful trip to the secondhand bookstore today. Especially excited about the Miles
Davis and Tom Waits albums (though I’m admittedly looking forward to digging into that Manic Street Preachers album).
Are we talking about the ending of the original series from the ‘90s? Because I know there have been several movies and (I think?) another miniseries, so I want to make sure I can respond appropriately.
Oh, plus I pre-ordered the debut Sylvia Rose album on @ampwall.com, like, MONTHS ago. Gonna need to download that later.

My man @jehu.bsky.social is a genius when it comes to innovative marketing ideas.
And the Huntingtons/Travoltas split on yellow vinyl because Travoltas announced they’re calling it quits yesterday, and I’m having a minor care of The Sads™️.

Pre-ordered the latest Philip K. Discs compilation, which comes on a 3D printed USB miniature boombox.

The fact that a PR company is actually willing to work with him, though…. 🤦🏻♂️
So hey, my friend @jehu.bsky.social has been designing this compilation for a while, so you should definitely consider picking it up tomorrow for #BandcampFriday. Philip K. Discs has some amazingly cool releases available, plus they also released my debut Touching Grass EP last year.
I think it means we shoot forward—or “spring” forward—like in Sonic the Hedgehog when those giant springs make you go really fast.
…Look, I’m fine walking. Crashing the plane is more “symbolic” than anything else.
YOU KNOW IT. And I’m gonna crash that sucker straight into Trump Tower, too!
Nine times out of ten, I see one of these shirts with a “patriotic” symbol on the sleeve and it’s some fascist/racist bullshit. So yeah, I feel some kind of way about guys who wear these shirts, too….
Okay, guys, but hear me out…
…Escape from New York (1981), I’m playing Snake Pliskin, but instead of reaching the President (played by Donald Pleasance, naturally), I infiltrate New York in order to locate and hug @westinplaying.bsky.social.
This sounds like people who learned how to talk to women by binging videos on PornHub. 🤦🏻♂️
It’s weird; after being so ungodly obsessed with them in the ‘90s, I returned to them a few times since their reunion (I actually saw them live at VirginFest in ‘07 around the time that reunion album came out), and they just haven’t clicked the same way they used to.
The world of extreme music is wild, because we have all these genres that spun off of heavy metal, but good trad metal still fucks. 🤘🏻
Dude, be honest with me: DO YOU HABE ANY GRAY HAIRS??
I’m not a Neon Genesis (hard G) Evangelion (soft g) hater by any means, but the correct GAINAX anime to have worshipped is FLCL. Far superior to NGE in almost every way.
I loved the Smashing Pumpkins all the way through high school, and I think that was the perfect time to stop giving a fuck about that band. I think I’ve listened to one or two post-reunion albums, but we all should’ve collectively forgotten about Corgan after the initial breakup.
ÖH, FÜCK ŸËÄH.
