From six years ago (🫠), here's my basic pitch for a new CRITTERS movie.
I want another Western-tinged entry like the original and 2, so a space prison flick seems like a great way to bring that energy while doing something new for the series.
Yes, this is me at my absolute nerdiest.
Just hire me already. I have all the answers.
First, we're resurrecting CRITTERS as our biggest movie franchise.

I hope it gets a few folks to watch NO OTHER CHOICE, which feels (as Darren rightly highlights) extremely undervalued in the awards season hubbub.
Should be right up there with SINNERS and ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER as far as inescapable discussion.

worth remembering, David Lynch directed “fix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic “no mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.

Some of you didn’t watch bloody horror movies before the age of ten and it shows.
I just don’t get the mind that sees game companies willingly dropping talent because they won’t even humor talking to the union (let alone signing a contract) and chooses to blame the union for it.
In my book, a company that doesn’t value the talent is the one in the wrong.
John Waters taught me a variation of this when he talked about his films.
He never made parodies of movies/genres he hated. He believed to make parody really work, you have to have a strong education and love for the subject you are lampooning.
I think some critics don't actually love movies.

my fair and balanced take is that the two poles of modern crit - the CinemaSins checklister and the wannabe influencer/marketeer - are equally annoying
It's a "Neon Slime" kind of morning.
Taking the high-points off the board so opponents feasibly can't make up a significant enough amount of points once the cheaper clues are all that's left.
It's a good strategy but makes for a poor experience playing along at home.
Still waiting for New Line to hit me up for the CRITTERS sequel that will revive the franchise.
If people shared and highlighted good articles half as much as they platform a low-hanging provocation about coffee, maybe we'd have a healthy, thriving marketplace for worthwhile editorials about worthwhile subjects.

He'll get a deepfake/CG double at this point if this gets made. I'd love nothing more than to see a legit great KING CONAN, but the ecosystem that exists today means I'm as distrusting as possible.
