On one hand I think we should stop labelling things cringe. On the other hand I just saw a Xeni tweet.

Obviously ditch the Martini & Rosso vermouths which was number one the best thing we ever did for making better cocktails.
Biggest upgrade to making cocktails at home, was buying the right bottles, which we did slowly, and we now have a pretty big home bar.

"Diamond Diary" (Tangerine Dream) from the Thief soundtrack doing a lot of heavy lifting in The Bear S4 premiere. Helps that that whole soundtrack/film rips.
But imagine tripping this thing down the stairs like an even dumber ED-209
Morvern Callar, which the pedant in me has to point out isn't in the Criterion Collection.

Two Arsenic and Old Lace cocktails, served in coupes, made with Gunpowder Irish gin, Dolin vermouth blanc, Bitter Truth Violet liqueur, La FΓ©e absinthe parisienne, and spritzed with lemon oil.
Two Shade Thrower cocktails, served in old fashioned glasses, made with Buffalo Trace bourbon, Amaro Meletti, Cinzano vermouth rosso, Aperol, and Angostura bitters.
In honour of finishing my courses, my in-house mixologist (the lovely @smaisling.bsky.social) has blessed me with two cocktails: Arsenic & Old Lace and Shade Thrower.
The Criterion blu-ray of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) dir. Martin Scorsese.
Good Friday viewing. Iβve never seen it.
Remembering that at the end of the Kilmainhan Gaol tour, you can do a survey on a computer display whether you support capital punishment or not. This tour is popular with Americans which is the only way I can square the overwhelming Yes results after a tour about the injustices of colonialism.
A Port of Spain cocktail served in a coupe glass with dehydrated lime wheel.
A Port of Spain cocktail (by Dominic Alling)... calls for 15ml Angostura bitters (in addition to the mezcal, orgeat, lime juice). Every time my wife took a sip she said, "This is fucking delicious"
Manhattan cocktail served in a Nick & Nora glass, made with Powers Irish Rye, Cinzano vermouth rosso, Angostura bitters, and a Luxardo maraschino cherry.
Trying out alternatives to using American liquor if it becomes unaffordable/unavailable. An Irish Manhattan subbing Powers Rye. Verdict: it's still good.
Remembering that someone's phone alarm went off during the film's final moments, which are supposed to be silent as the world ends.
Just caught up on this ep and sad to hear that everyone has only seen Last Night as cropped dvd rip Youtube upload. It was not shot on video or in 4:3, but 35mm and uses bleach bypass to blow out the whites of the ever present sunlight. I was lucky enough to see a 35mm print at IFI Dublin last year.
Bottles of Amaro Averna, Vida mezcal, Rittenhouse rye, Aperol, St-Germain elderflower liqueur

I don't see any Second Sight on there, but hope they get added.

Post-The Brutalist drinks @ Underdog Dublin
Tonight's finally the night: The Brutalist 70mm sold out showing in Dublin (preview screening ahead of the release date next Friday).
Bought tickets for 6 films in the Ingmar Bergman season playing at the cinema near us in February and March. Don't have the time to attend the other 16 that will be playing.
Blu-rays of Model Shop, To The Wonder, and Shirley.
Todayβs random blu-ray buys. Wanted to pick up Model Shop, got the other two on sale too.
Love these photos. Iβm feeling very inspired to dig up my photos of S Korea from 2012-2017 and post some.
Can it be 3D?
I saw it in 4D when it came out in South Korea, one of the only films to make perfect sense with the format as if you were inside a jaeger.
Thereβs a interview with FFC on the Dance, Girl, Dance criterion disc about it.
I also changed their Sky box from 1080i to 1080p which might have helped as well.
Think I finally fixed the motion smoothing on my in-laws TV. It was not as simple as only putting it on filmmaker mode (Samsung TV), I had to go into settings and turn off Picture Clarity (judder, etc).
