Year of reading banned books 💯 recommend
Not a banned book but HIGHLY RECOMMEND for my fellow addicts and normie’s. This took place in Santa Cruz and I would love all her neighbors to spend one day in her shoes. 💜
The Kennedy Center was created by bipartisan legislation signed by former President Eisenhower in 1958. President Trump appointed himself and members of his administration to the board.
Don’t have time to cook? We would really appreciate a donation to help us celebrate our hard working dispatchers
America never learns. Tragic this is still so relevant 27 years later

Banned for LGBTQ+ themes and violence. This is a fantasy YA book, and I loved it

Just tragic. We just can’t believe anything coming from this administration
In case you’re inclined to let them know how you feel about their fealty to 47 and trashing their DEI initiatives.

White text on blue background: “What is a banned book? Often times the term banned is used interchangeably with a book that was either challenged, censored, restricted, or banned. Why? Often the reason behind them is to ‘protect the kids,’ & these most often target public libraries and public schools. These complaints are very often done by a few people with large batches of books.”
White text on blue background: “What is a challenged book? A challenged book is an attempt to censor, restrict, or ban a book. How? To do this, someone has to file a complaint, usually based on the content of the book (issues like sex, gender issues, violence, discussions on race or sexuality, criticism of gov.). After that, the book & complaint go to a review board/committee to be evaluated against guidelines. Depending on the county/city/state, they will sometimes do a public hearing where the challenger & those against the challenge can present their arguments. Then the review body will decide on it. Depending on the outcome, a book can be restricted or banned.”
White text on blue background: “What is a restricted book? Restricting a book can mean it’s moved sections or shelves that make acquiring it more difficult or requiring parental permission. Like moving a book from YA to adult, as was the case for This Book is Gay at library in Fremont. Or it could mean a book is placed in a locked case, or ‘adult only’ or ‘restricted’ shelves. This is also a form of CENSORING.”
Before I get into posting about the lesser know banned books, I figured it might be important to talk about what it means to be a banned book & what we can do about it (part 2).

I HIGHLY recommend listening to this book. It’s read by the author with a full cast of voices. I love the bravery of this younger generation. I never would have imagined even ASKING sex education speak to all of us. Not just hetero normative.
OMG we’re so cute

Trans, two spirit and non-binary people have always been part of the human family No ignorant, mean-spirited, fear-based executive order will change this. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t have the capacity for harm. We must be intentional: Rest when it’s time to rest, fight when it’s time to fight. #F47
Celebrating me…
Sometimes quickly sometimes slowly. I tend to be on the slowly track. But 14 years without a drink, no matter how I got here, is a miracle. I’m grateful that when anyone anywhere reached out for help, the hand of A.A. was always there.
