All that said, Portal 2's gameplay is still fun as hell.

Portal 2 throws that all out the window before GLaDOS even wakes up. Suddenly BTS areas are completely exaggerated and seemingly serve no purpose than to scare people afraid of heights, the chambers after her wakeup are spotless, and now she's basically a god to this place.

Portal 1 felt more grounded in reality. Chambers being mostly clean but having dirty spots, the BTS areas feeling like they have actual use, and GLaDOS not having total god-like control over the facility. You got the feeling the place was designed for humans to work in.

Sorry, I got tired of being sick so I did a dark ritual to give it to someone else.

The coolest thing about the Source Engine is you think, "oh, I'm gonna do this really simple thing" and next thing you know, it's 3 AM, you have multiple Source Discords and Valve Dev Wiki pages open, and you're on the verge of a crashout all because you wanted to make a functional keypad.
