Oh, and look, here's that class action suit! That anyone with half a brain would have seen coming! From, like, a million miles away!
Just because you work in tech doesn't mean you're smart.

Another tough day for team βthereβs no point in complaining about AI, just accept it.β
Thereβs this? Doesnβt fix the problem writ large but
Grammarly declined my request to interview CEO Shishir Mehrotra today. But it told me that in response to criticisms, it will allow experts to opt out of the feature by emailing expertoptout@superhuman.com.
I've decided that instead of wasting my own time to see if Grammarly has stolen my name and writing for use their business, I'd just email them to opt out and make them waste some time cleaning up their own goddamn mess.

Never signed an email βdisgustedlyβ before!
The US has, in slightly over a year, torched what was once one of the best repositories of legal talent (the DOJ) in favor of...uh...total hacks now struggling under an impossible workload made all the more impossible by an administration that is acting without even the faintest color of law.
Yup
This is a great reason to boycott:
this is also my ongoing frustration. you can not run for office on "democracy is under threat" and then lose and go "oh well, nice game everyone"
they put us in a constant state of hypervigilance & terror begging for our last $5 to save the country and then they do the joint softball game.
White and orange Maine Coon cat relaxes in his dark red cat bed, paw tucked, staring up at the camera
I have a special little comb, like the ones from school picture day, that is used just to comb Benβs forehead while he sighs in bliss. (Obviously with a cat this fluffy heβs known his hard-core metal comb all his life or heβd be matted but!)
how is "mayor chooses his words carefully" a NYT story but "president chooses his words like a haunted magic 8 ball on meth" not

If I had a nickel for every time Franz Ferdinand was involved in the precursor events of a world war, Iβd have two nickels, which isnβt a lot, but itβs weird it happened twice
π§΅I'm listening to a book by someone whose work I respect & as sometimes happens, was hit by ignorant & frankly antisemitic language around Jewish scripture & "the Old Testament God" that, whenever I hear it, I feel like my head's going to blow off.
So. A thread! Fun!
Yeah, my late father liked Elvis but I always thought he was gross so I donβt actually know his music.
If you ever need a perfect example to explain what cultural competence is:
But I also think about how we got here, where there are "gay elements" in kids' movies at all. LGBTQ+ activists & cis-straight allies changed the culture in which movies get made. IT DIDN'T EXIST when my kids (22 & 26) were born. It was spoken into being. So we have to keep speaking.
3/3
Anger over people not taking their coffee βthe right wayβ is really about gender.
A situation which is not helped by most of our parents then telling us we donβt understand reality, because they really do not understand the world we inherited and think we can JUST live in the world they did if we pound the pavement/find a recruiter/buy a house/be loyal to jobs. Itβs so wild/awful
βWow he blocked me because he canβt take criticismβ thatβs correct. This is social media. Youβre just some asshole. I am under no obligation to listen to you tell me what to do. Have a blessed day
This is horrifying. Praying for the people in Tehran.
An image of Tehran during daytime, submerged in thick black smoke from oil refineries that have been bombed by the US and Israel.
Daytime in Tehran. Thick black smoke and no daylight because the US and Israel bombed the oil refineries. Acid rain is now falling on a city of 14 million. As ever I have no words for this depravity that goes by the name of Western civilisation.
I donβt know why I got the impression it was like a firecracker or something but nooo. This was a very poorly constructed attempt at doing serious harm. And 18 and 19-year-old from PA were arrested.
This International Women's Day, please remember that trans women are women. Full stop. No qualifiers.
This is why the GOP have been aggressively targeting PBS for decades.
1910 Women could wear pants 1920 White women could vote 1963 Women gained equal paid rights (sort of) 1965 Black women could vote 19 69 Women were allowed to initiate divorce 1972 Women could get birth control, without a man 1973 Women could choose to get an abortion, legally 1974 Women could buy a home, without a man 1988 Women could own their own business, without Nomesticial protection agains 2022 Women lost the constitutional right to abortion
Strong reminder: women have not been independent for as long as some folks would like you to believe. Weβve lost rights that we never should have lost.
This is honestly the treatment Trump voters should get in the U.S. too. Don't let them try to hide from the effects of their choice. It's always the people who believe in the worst things that get mad when someone "makes things political."
holy absolute fuck
This is wildly common in chronic illness because doctors are taught to cure and not treat. So theyβre not flexible or imaginative and if it doesnβt work the way they were taught or expect they canβt just mark it in their win column so itβs not worth their time and now youβre making them work
I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.
