Found out it’s a very early style or a Houpplande!
A beautiful pair of #Roman earrings, made of gold, amethyst, & pearl - they have an amazing timeless & classic look, I would more than happily wear them today (& I suspect I am not alone in that!) #Archaeology AncientBlueSky
Does anyone know what style of attire this is? Is it an Italian style Houpplande?
A winged figure sits on a cloud, resting her head in her right hand and clutching loosely a golden arrow in the other. She wears Ancient Roman dress; white under tunic, red stola (a long dress-like garment) and pink palla (a cloak wrapped around her lower body and left arm). The palla has some embroidery along the bottom. Her hair is white and pale pink, curly strands trailing over her shoulders. Atop her head sits a gold diadem engraved with hearts and leaf decoration. A single tear sits below her left eye.
Shared this on the Other Site again from Valentines so thought I’d post here too!
Can y’all recommend any well-produced podcasts that focus on mythology? Is that a thing?
I know mythology is very inconsistent with ages but from what I’ve read gods grow rather quickly so it must be hard honestly watching others spend time as mothers and she has such a limited amount of time
Remembering that Hera the goddess of motherhood only got a few seconds to hold her babies before they grew up

I’ve been trying to research different belts that would have been worn by women during Ancient Rome. I’ve seen a lot of rope, coins. I wonder if they wore different color rope? Or maybe they used fabric?
I don’t know what I want to do with the waist. If anyone could drop some ideas that would be awesome. Also I know there really wasn’t a “middle class” in Ancient Rome since that wasn’t a concept in the empire but I was thinking of using a rope for the waist or a coined belt
Since what I’m going for is a middle class woman who works I don’t really think I need a palla since that was mainly used for walking and going to a temple. Which is not what I am going for. I’m still deciding if I want fibulas though. I’m leaning towards yes. I’m thinking of brass fibulas.
I’m currently commissioning someone to make a historically accurate middle class Roman woman costume for me. My idea on colors is a denim blue and then a salmon pink. I was also thinking of just wearing a veil instead of a whole palla since I don’t know how to properly drape it.
