„Mal runter vom Campus“ – Gehen als Methode in den Geschichtswissenschaften Neben den sich wandelnden Nutzungsformen des Gehens und der damit verbundenen Situiertheit im Raum interessieren mich als globale Umwelthistorikerin gerade auch partizipative Formate. Das Gehen erlaubt den Studierenden, sich als Teil der Umwelt wahrzunehmen und damit einen für die Umweltgeschichte fundamentalen Perspektivwechsel zu vollziehen. Noch viel zu oft wird bei historischem Arbeiten in den Schulen Natur zur Ressource und Landschaft zur Bühne menschlichen Handelns reduziert. Der Mensch ist entrückt und als Element über statt als Teil einer Umwelt definiert, welche allumfassend und handlungsbestimmend ist. Um diesen Perspektivwechsel didaktisch leichtgängiger zu gestalten, heißt es in meiner Lehre nun regelmäßig: Raus aus dem Seminarraum und runter vom Campus.
