If I made extraction shooter RPG, it would be a TCG.

A tentative cover for KRIEGWALKERS, depicting a mech silhouette in front of an orange sky, surrounded by two mech hangars
An attempt was made. I might need to reduce the blur on the mech's silhouette (based on a model by Michael Schiffer I found at Unsplash), but this turned out way better than expected. PS2 covers were the biggest inspiration here.
BTW I just found out I have to pay back $2300 of health insurance subsidies which is breaking my bank account, so now's actually a great time to get stuff from my shop or commission me.
Ever wanted to steal the gritty textures I use in my zine and ttrpg work? Good news! I've uploaded a little tasting platter to my itch. Dig in girlypops.

Yuri is beautiful, but what's arguably even more beautiful is to read or watch something that doesn't seem like it'd have it, but it suddenly has it. That's cinema. Motoko having girlfriends in Standalone Complex or Valmet being gay in Jormungand elicited many reactions from my girlfriend hahahaha

Signalis is the best.
Heat is playing with fire. It will tempt reckless actions. Become addicted sitting at the edge.
It's okay. The caloric slurry reservoir will cool you enough to keep fighting. Only one target in the way. The barrel on your weapon is molten hot. You only need to play it right.
My favorite game rule is when action generates Heat and it complicates all your acts.
You always look at Heat. It won't restrict your options. But push you into dangerous choice.

Extraction shooter fans are secretly MMO-FPS-RPG fans. They just don't know it yet.
Nice review. π I watched a few Marathon clips and it looks fun.
I wondered why it felt different to other extraction shooters like less Tarkov and more Apex Legends. When you note the themes of hostility, it makes sense. It looks very bloodthirsty.

I have not played or found RPGs with fun Bad Endings. Unless playing the Bad Ending is the only goal.
Usually dying or Bad Endings in RPGs will cut the game short. Some RPGs feel so bad it compensates you with a final exit you cannot fail. But the Good Ending lets me continue play and level up.
I agree with you!
I have an idea to guess why some RPG players work hard to avoid the Bad Ending. But video game players work hard to find the Bad Ending.
Because the ideal TTRPG is advertized a "forever game" (by D&D). You don't want the story to end early. Definitely not on a bad mood (losing).
Like Tokyo Drift hiring a fall guy.
i know rpgs are different than literary pub but idk man if no one was reading my book i wouldnβt be doing this. thatβs the point. you have to post so good that something gets through
Clocks are special.
It is a tool for GMs to track time and events. Like a loading bar in any game.
But when you draw a clock and fill it up. Suddenly, it is more important and dramatic. It makes me paranoid to what action will activate the clock and what I can sneak away.
I like Clocks.
Personally feel it is too anchored to Blades In The Dark and stealth games.
Especially Danger Clocks. When shown to new players, they look like irreversible threats to the perfect heist. So a mistake is made if you play to avoid it ticking.
The new edition of Static Abyss (a MIRU soundtrack) has just landed. Features 4 new tracks and a slightly new look! Also now comes in CD along with the classic MiniDisc! The physical editions include the digital edition via a QR code. Multi platform for your listening MIRU experience.
This is cool.
Good ideas! I like Heat more if it does not disable you outright. Heat should not stop you. That is why death exists in a game. But Heat can put you there quicker.
