The preoccupation with low fertility in the media has displaced concern over continued high fertility in areas where gender inequality & other barriers to reproductive health persist. These barriers are now exacerbated by the Trump admin’s cruel aid cuts.

A new study estimates that by the end of the decade, between 9.4 million and 22.6 million people could die as a result of aid cuts across the world.

It took 123 years to reach 2 billion, and only 32 years to reach 3 bn.

The last several billion milestones (4, 5, 6, 7, & 8 bn) were reached in 15, 12, 11, 12, and 12 years, respectively.
The UN projects that it'll take 15 years to reach 9 billion.

Even as population growth slowed nationwide, Texas added more new residents than any other state last year. The state’s population now stands at nearly 32 million.

In the 1980s, teenage pregnancy was so prevalent that it became a feature of the culture. But the birthrate has fallen so much for teenagers, and risen enough for women in their early 40s, that the latter group is now more likely to give birth than teenagers.
