Twitch screenshot of me in my office, with center stage being taken up by Sweetie Pie (the big, fluffy black cat in the center of the screen). Behind her is me, and behind me is my office backdrop, today featuring framed prints of various Niobrara Sea creatures from the Cretaceous, including mosasaurs, hesperornithids, plesiosaurs, etc. There's also a Casteroides skull and a Minnesota flag (homemade!)
We've got a special interview lined up with David Levering (@biogeoverse.bsky.social) on today's #Twitch stream β discussing current issues in #paleontology, and what the future of our science might look like.
You're invited to jump in and chat with us @ twitch.tv/paleontologizing

Let me attempt to articulate something. As a former participant in the "teenage nerds talk about dinosaurs online" scene, I think some of us who follow paleontology as adults or do dinosaur stuff professionally care too much about the specifics of what's being discussed there. (cont'd)

Please have and encourage patience with US federal offices and our federal colleagues in the coming days. With a US federal government shutdown now in effect, progress on permit requests from federal agencies will very likely be delayed.

The Dark Side of Being a Female Shark Researcher
Being a scientist should not require developing the grit to continually endure misogyny, discrimination, harassment, assault or bullying
When I wrote this for SciAm, the thing that genuinely surprised me most was the number of emails I got (mostly from men) telling me that prior generations of women in science would be ashamed of me for my weakness in writing it.

Spent yesterday checking on access to various sites in the Cretaceous-Paleocene North Horn Formation, including a new site with adult and juvenile ceratopsian material weβll be opening next month. Paleo can be challenging at 8000-10,000β!
And of course there are turtles. π’π₯°
