Ooh I love to see that genre play with perspectives too rather than prescriptively stick to 2D side scrollers.

The dead hand boss from Ocarina of Time, a creature covered with blood, knife hands and a rictus grin, with long slender arms rising out of the ground
Experimenting at doing things out of order. The wallmasters and redeads have haunted my dreams since childhood but I'd memory-holed just how much of this is a horror game
2 is beautiful and my favorite by far. 3 is still good but does feel slightly repetitive. Still, you'll need the Kleenex for both π
Just watched through the trilogy with my daughter for the first time, this scene/music is still so incredibly exhilarating.
Good stuff. So much of the Discourse around criticism lately is preoccupied with how critics can/should write with devs, publishers or the algorithm in mind, rather than how to write for the reader.
Getting some real "Come play, my lord" vibes here.
Watching a demo of how you can turn every NPC in your RPG town into somebody who says "That's right β you *are* the four LIGHT WARRIORS. You make a great point! The bridge to the main continent *does* need to be repaired, and you're just the person to do it."
A twisting hallway in the forest temple
Forest Temple has a lot more backtracking than I recalled, hitting doors requiring keys and doubling back through the same room for the 5th time. But the visualization of space remains top notch.
'Me, sir!' cried Sam, springing up like a dog invited for a walk. 'Me go and see Elves and all! Hooray!' he shouted, and then burst into tears.

Not familiar with their catalogue but this still slaps
A breakfast sandwich with cheese egg bacon and lettuce, and a large cup of coffee
Two job interviews in 24 hours and TCTC on Thursday (including a full day of setup). Here's to a hectic (and hopefully productiveπ€) week
Next Saturday at 11am I'm going be hosting Making A TTRPG (Without Breaking The Bank) at @terminalcitycon.ca!
A step-by-step guide to making and publishing a TTRPG on a budget!
(P.S. if you're going, feel free to say hi! It is always cool to meet local TTRPG peeps!)

Oh I did all that grinding, fought the true final boss once, went "yeah that's not happening" and uninstalled the game.
Something* happened!

Felt like a good time (if any) for another share of the local vancity artists starter pack! go.bsky.app/2zJJUod
Mark and Daniel with the Vancouver Convention Center behind them.
We'll be taking a break for a week or two but you can catch us both at @terminalcitycon.ca this week
The 30 Rock meme "What a week huh?" but features The SIlent from Slay The Spire 2 saying "What a boss fight. huh?" with The Regent responding "Silent, it's a normal enemy"
Been playing lots of Slay The Spire 2.
On my first Necrobinder run now. Osty is such a good boy
Good point, this particular era of game has some unique challenges in graphical translations.
Large troll like creatures in the narrow passage ways of the lost woods
I've only just clicked that these bastards are moblins.
The scene of Link realizing he's 7 years older. Navi the fairy saying "look Link! You're big now! You've grown up"
Time for Link's glow up
Just catching up on this now, appreciate the shout out, but need to know if @613mandi.bsky.social has played any more Mio, some quirks aside I think it's a really special entry to the genre.
It's just the one ring, actually.
I made Moss Moss, a #pico8 game about mossing the world and finding secrets. Hope you enjoy β₯

Started my reread of Lord of the Rings.
Gandalf: *drops a whole chapter of exposition on gollum's backstory*
Frodo: How did you learn all this?
Gandalf: I tortured the little shit.
Not looking forward to the entire middle film of the new trilogy to be a Gandalf splatter film.
A low poly and rather square catfish with a house and garden on it's back, floating through the sky "Oh, how I love the bell"
A computer interface of a chat dialogue resembling old school messenger apps
Camera interface taking a photo of the garden at sunset
Sketchbook drawings of fish
Ok The Wide Open Sky is Running out of Catfish is lovely. Hang out on your vaporwave catfish boat, take photos to catalogue species of fish and chill with friends MSN Messenger style. It's scratching some 'Early 2000's Cartoon Network' nostalgia vibes.
