hypothetical tech deets: the screen was designed for SNES Mode 2 where the boss is BG 1, using two palettes, and the background is BG 2 using column scrolling to produce a tilting effect. The players and UI elements are all sprites, although this would probably be impractical in an actual SNES game.

A snippet of a scene from Ocarina of Time, rendered at 1440p resolution. The 3D models are pretty distinct from the pre-rendered background that they're rendered on top of.

The same snippet but downscaled to match the resolution of the backdrop. The scene looks a bit more coherent. Unfortunately, the downscaling introduced a very slight blur effect to the backdrop as well.

so I've been working on a downscaler for playing 3D games that were supposed to be played at a lower resolution, but there's still some very slight imperfections that are bugging me...

An analog, three panel comic sequence created using yellow sticky notes. It features a goose/duck like creature that has literal googly eyes. As the sticky notes progress, it looks as though the goose/duck is coming closer to the viewer by having the bird shape itself—as well as the googly eyes—grow larger in scale.

I knew my stash of googly eyes would be of use one day
