Thomas Jefferson was a pedophile and rapist who enslaved human beings, including 6 of his own children.

Sally Hemings, Eston's mother, deserved so much better. She was between 14 and 16 the first time Jefferson raped her. He was in his 40s.

Eston Hemings looked like Thomas Jefferson. We know from DNA testing that this wouldn't be surprising given that Eston was Jefferson's son.

So why were people surprised by the resemblance when they visited Monticello?

Because Eston was enslaved by Jefferson.

Update: In the mid-1990's this serial perpetrator was quietly excommunicated by Mormon leadership. No law enforcement was informed. He was allowed to participate in worship and fellowship with parents of young children and all the children in his local congregation left none the wiser.

Utah legislature was up to shenanigans last night making it harder to remove signatures from the Prop 4 Repeal. We should contact our reps to let them know that's not ok.

It's time to give a damn and get up and get out there. Do the work even without immediate pay off. Even though it's hard and doesn't feel like it's working.

It does help. It does matter. And it does need to be done BY US.
