Hopefully, one day, you will be able to take a canal trip from Chesterfield to Rother Valley Country Park. Probably, 15-20 years off though.

They just pulled down numerous buildings to widen Campo Lane. Before the war, they drew up plans to knock down one side of London Road to create a wide highway, but never went through with it.

For those who spotted the lions. They were there from the opening in 1932. They were banished in the 60's and sold to stand outside a Tarmac office building. Now back home #Sheffield

At least Charlie Stayt jumped straight on it,if she'd have said it the Today programme to Nick Robinson he'd have hi-fived her.
Interestingly, the BBC news website headlined with her attacks on Starmer, and had one small byline reporting her comment and saying some Labour figures had condemned them.

Yesterday Kemi Badenoch was on BBC Breakfast, she was so anxious to score points on Labour, she parroted Trump by accusing the RAF of 'just hanging around' in the Middle East.
Must be lovely for the air and ground crew , support staff and families in a war zone to hear they are slacking on the job.

Interesting that in Ridgeway they were using the oldest version from 1780's. I love that

Yes, Ada said Magpies were so evil, they only was to counter them was to salute them and wish them a good day as you say.

I have dark hair and the first New Year I was courting, her family made me go first through the door holding a piece of coal.
They also said stirring a drink with a knife and putting keys on a table were also bad luck.

My wife's Grandma lived all her life in Ridgeway and had loads of superstitions. Anyone heard this one (relating to magpies)..
One for a wedding
Two for mirth
Three for a wedding
Four for a birth ?
I just remembered it after putting my boots in the table to polish , Ada would have not been impressed

I don't believe it's part of the Waterside scheme itself, but with a 1,000 homes eventually being built , there has to be a ripple out benefit to the area.

Yes. There's so much potential for the site and area. I've been walking around that area and there are some lovely buildings. Close to both the city, Meadowhall, the M1 and sandwiched between river and canal.
