The rules are basically: Pick a category then get random Wiki pages until one falls into the category, earning a point.
Winning categories can't be picked again.

The cynic in me thinks Bitcoin will never die organically because it is the unregulated-financial-instrument in its purest form.

Like pyramid schemes, the practice will never die so long as people are willing to scam others.

The only way to get rid of them is to outlaw them and enforce those laws.
