I've only been retired two weeks and I'm already an American citizen. I wasted no time and registered to vote before I left the building. Turbulent times and a broken foot, but nonetheless a momentous day meaningfully shared with my American wife and stepson (not the joyful little face pictured).
I agree! Too much angst and anger, not enough introspection or conversation. My FB bubble is far too one-sided and here on BS it is even more bubblicious. I don't think having conservatives on X and liberals here is helpful. I'd much rather have a place where we actually talk civilly to each other.

To paraphrase Yuval Noah Harari, free speech doesn't include algorithms. It's not the nut job posts, it's the relentless funneling of our eyes to the provocative & ugly & the gradual normalization thereof. The right has been pushed further right & the left has been pushed further left by algorithms.
