The "non-WWE talent don't know how to work" thing emerged around the time WWF bought WCW, as a self-fulfilling prophecy to rationalize not pushing ex-WCW talent over WWE stars like HHH. HHH doesn't apply that mentality to Flair and Dusty because they were already stars when he was a kid.

I get that your point is that TNA should try to be less incompetent, but welp...it's TNA, I gave up on that around 2010.

I'm sure in TNA's case, they don't want to show the empty seats, and they're just too incompetent to rearrange the audience. My point is that it's not a genuine problem, even if they believe it is. It's like when WWE stans would nitpick the lighting on old ROH shows.

It's not a universal thing. I've seen lots of empty seats on New Japan shows, because New Japan never adopted the 1980s WWF principle of looking stronger than the competition by making the venue look bigger and fuller. If you can't fill the seats, the point is to sell tickets better next time.

Just to be clear, the premise of this Family Circus is "Daddy, a full-time cartoonist in the year 2026, just came home after being in the office all day, where he wears a suit."

Yeah, I'm now very aware that the problem with the Naboo blockade in The Phantom Menace is that Lucas never makes it clear what vital resources are shipped through that route. The movie opens with 3 paragraphs of infodump but no room for "we're cut off from our best source of space fuel."

It's like, there's always going to be wrestlers on the bench who don't want to be there. There will likely always be podcasts willing to listen to them talk about that. This isn't going away. AEW doesn't give a shit, so why should any of us?

Wrestlesky is constantly assuring itself that AEW has emerged stronger from its problems a couple of years ago, until Johnny TV of all people does an interview on a slow news day, and then holy shit we'd better circle the wagons and do damage control.

What you're suggesting is that they anticipate any possible way their words could be taken out of context, to avoid anything that can be twisted to hurt the promotion. They don't do that because they'd end up walking on eggshells 24/7, and it wouldn't stop the haters anyway.

I think the nature of WWE's "PPV calendar" is unique, and can't really be mapped to other promotions. All In and Wrestle Kingdom come closest to resembling Wrestlemania, but nobody has an event quite like the Rumble. I'm not even sure WWE would still be doing the Rumble except that they always have.

I feel like it's been that way somce the 1980s. The audience is trained to assume each talent was pretty good pre-WWE, and then the magic of WWE helped them acheive their final form, even if they're just doing the same act.

I'm in the US and don't see this screen anywhere on the MyAEW site. There's a section for purchase history and billing info, but nothing to buy. So I'm pretty sure these plans are region-locked, like AEW Plus on Triller.

Even if we pretend the podcasters are colluding to save their most distracting takes for the week of a big AEW show, I wouldn't believe that tactic is very productive or successful. "Cody says something spicy" won't make me forget about the $49.99 5-hour show that I'm planning my weekend around.

I see this complaint a lot, but it doesn't hold water with me. There's a pro wrestling story or two EVERY WEEK that dominates the news cycle and the discourse. But when it happens right before an AEW pay-per-view, I'm supposed to think it's an insidious psyop.
