This, from CNN.com, is very good. Every news organization should be asking and answering that question. And then they should ask the next question: Shouldn’t that disqualify him from being commander-in-chief? www.cnn.com/2026/03/10/p...
There was a pretty obvious point in 2024 where everybody with any **power** in this country decided “let’s get Trump back in office and just give him everything he wants and hope for the best” and, well, here we are
Trump and the Coronavirus I wrote a lot about the coverage of Trump’s response to the pandemic, and here is what was clear all along: He had no real plan to restore the country to health other than to peddle false hope, predict a quick end, adopt fake deadlines and shift the blame to others. The most urgent need was to test, test, test, and either he didn’t get it or he didn’t want to know the results because they would “look bad”. The media blew its coverage by letting political reporters lead instead of health and science reporters. Political reporters paid way too much attention to whatever Trump said, such that whatever it was made headlines. They let Trump set the agenda instead of letting knowledgeable people do it. Political reporters also gave Trump way too much credit for trying. They covered up for his incoherence, ignorance, cluelessness, gaslighting, and yes, just plain stupidity. They failed to properly exploit their rare access to him by confronting him with facts and piercing his bubble. They remained complacent in the face of a massive death toll, instead of relentlessly demanding more forceful action.
History repeats itself. Remember how devastatingly incompetent Trump was during Covid? How he had no plan? And how news outlets didn’t call him on it? Let me refresh your memory: presswatchers.org/category/tru...
1/x:
Let's talk about this for just a moment.
This does NOT meet the definition for the crime of genocide as articulated in the UN convention seeking to prevent and punish such crimes.
It DOES meet the definition as many people use it.
It SHOULD meet the def as all non-lawyers use it.
Four images of 10 years of transformation in Paris: 2016–2026.
@annehidalgo.bsky.social will no longer be mayor in March 2026, but this vision of a Paris for life must live on.
Cities are places of solidarity, kindness and well-being in an increasingly authoritarian and brutal world. We need it!

NEW: Before the Iran War, Trump ignored warnings that Iran could retaliate across the region and stop oil shipments. Now, with energy markets in chaos, some aides are pessimistic about the lack of a strategy to end the war. But they haven't told Trump. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2026/03/10/u...

Q: "You just suggested that Iran somehow got its hands on a Tomahawk and bombed its own elementary school…but you're the only person in your government saying this…Why are you the only person saying this?"
Trump: "Because I just don't know enough about it."
They have no problem spending a billion dollars a day on war, but fight for every penny when it comes to caring for Veterans.
A Noem aide spent $3 million on pickup trucks emblazoned with the ICE name & logo, which ICE agents -- notoriously averse to advertising their presence -- will not drive, so they're just sitting in a lot, useless. The contract went to a Trump donor who owns a regional Chevy dealership.

Wild story from @washingtonexaminer.bsky.social:
ICE "wasted millions" to buy "thousands of employee vehicles that the agency cannot use to arrest illegal immigrants"
The problem: the vehicles are marked with ICE logo and motto
“ICE has never had marked vehicles,” person familiar said
It's just one story, one illustration of all the terrible things that have happened. It's been a week since the very great noise/drone artist Siavash Amini posted this, from where he lives Tehran. There has been no update since. It could be for any number of reasons. We just don't know.
Gabba of Chaos UK passed away. The fact that 90% of the mentions are in Japanese speaks to the cross pollination between Chaos UK and Japanese noise punx. Anyway, RIP one of those great guitarists whose style is so punk it’s practically art. blackkonflik.bandcamp.com/album/chaos-...
"Jews don't belong in American society."
Imagine a sitting member of Congress tweeting that. You can't. Thankfully, it'd never happen. And *if* it did, it'd be the end of their career and the biggest story in America.

"A real war with real death and real suffering being treated like it’s a video game — it’s sickening." This kind of plainspoken moral clarity is what we have bishops for, and I am grateful to Cardinal Cupich for stepping up to provide it.
