every time I see an american call something "american cheese" it's like. oh right, that IS what it's called in america. everywhere else it's called either "processed cheese", "american slices", "kraft singles" etc because it doesn't contain enough actual cheese to be legally called cheese
Kicked out of the zoo for saying "the creator's barely disguised fetish" at every enclosure,
It's really hard and really important to take this stance. When visible actors in visible roles take the lead on this and shame companies for these practices they protect smaller and less-seen workers from being taken advantage of β€οΈ
I truly wish Capcom was at least willing to speak with SAG-AFTRA about doing this game union.
I expressed that I'd even be willing to work on a LOWER-budget union contract if it meant this flipped.
It genuinely wasn't about the money for me.
A broken, blue heart
With a broken Blue Bomber heart, I am no longer the voice of Mega Man.
I was asked to return for Mega Man: Dual Override, but only on the condition I work without the protections of a union contract.
Did a double take when I saw this email.
For what this means, it's basically that the client began the process to make it a union game, alerting its cast that it would be union, but then did not actually complete the process to do so.
These notices can be rescinded should everything be fixed.
yes, you. also you. no you can't animate a AAA amount of assets with one animator. stop trying to do that
what if I started consultancy service where I just tell indies to scope down their game
!!!
god finding this is like stumbling across a buried USB drive in the woods. bizarre
In particular my understanding is that there are a lot of anti fraud laws that hit stuff like international profit share arrangements for nonemployees and boy that stuff is a Nest of legal bs
....and trying to figure out the legalities of potetnial profitshare on previous projects has gotten hideously complex as soon as multiple team members are in different countries
I would love this but I think in practice it would require a big Move in terms of licensing because I suspect most studio owners would be afraid that it would require them to renegotiate rights every time they wanted to rerelease or whatever. It's on the same level of "spooky" as profitshare
:DD maybe I'll se you then
(knowing how legal stuff usually goes, arranging for this to get the original artists paid in any fashion would probably be a nightmare. maybe just revert the rights to the ppl who originally made the assets? idk. 'maybe we could do it better' stuff like this is always a huge pain in practice)
oh dang I was there for thurs/fri but didn't see you haha
hot take: defunct indies should license out their assets to other indies to allow for "industry asset reuse" the same way AAA gets cross-franchise asset reuse
There are slime creatures in Elden Ring and Nightreign using anim rigs from Kings Field 1 in 1994.
Don't fix what ain't broke.
course:oblivion is a pretty famous episode tho!

I mean the AI is just going to be parroting stolen writing soooo what's even the point of this. "What's better: Plagiarism or humans?"
o_o
the developers do not appear to have considered the possibility of "what if you just turn voyager's engines off in combat against big immobile targets like borg cubes and pelt them with photon torpedoes from outside their attack range" the borg queen just "fled" from me after about 1 full minute of this
voyager should have really just considered this hot strat

5. Hollow Knight: Silksong (Confirmed Release Window) Developer: Team Cherry (Adelaide) Genre: Metroidvania Platform: All Platforms We know, we know. Listing Hollow Knight: Silksong as an βupcomingβ 2026 game is both obvious and slightly cheeky. However, after years of silence and speculation, Adelaideβs Team Cherry has finally confirmed that Hornetβs long-awaited sequel is scheduled for a Q3 2026 release. It is, quite simply, the most anticipated indie game in the world. Silksong takes players to a new kingdom, Pharloom, offering faster, more acrobatic combat and an even more expansive world than its predecessor. When Silksong lands, it wonβt just dominate the 2026 discussion in Australia; it will be the center of the global gaming conversation.
Today on GamesHub, a website with very real authors, Tanaka Haruto is promoting "upcoming" video game "Hollow Knight: Silksong" confirmed to released in Q3 2026.
"When Silksong lands, it wonβt just dominate the 2026 discussion in Australia; it will be the center of the global gaming conversation."
ironically he "died" on an away mission (had the mobile emitter destroyed) so he's now relegated back to the medbay lmao
it's definitely got some jank elements but if you like survival sims (this war of mine, frostpunk) and the idea of wacky voyager AU content, it's worth playing imo. I enjoy it even if I find parts frustrating
Voyager: Across the Unknown screenshot showing Harry Kim, Tuvok, B'Elanna, Neelix, Seven of Nine, and Tom Paris all dead. The main crew surviving is Kes, Doctor, Chakotay, Carey, Pelk, Kashyk, and Icheb
my voyager AU opening credits are becoming EXTREMELY weird
one of the very last things I implemented fairly late-in-dev was an animation queueing system for dialogue that was designed to be mash-safe, prioritize playing anims in full, and gracefully exit if the player was blasting through them a conversation. 100% blueprint
