The world slowed. And time seemed to have shifted, everything blurred. And James had shaken his head as she explained that a car crash had killed Lily Potter. A hit and run.

Remus clutched onto little Harry as James followed after Sirius.
The door opens.
“Are you the partner of Lily Potter?” The officer says, a saddened expression on her face. And it was almost as if James knew.

“No, she should be back any minute now.” James says, yet his heart had begun to tighten. It was then that the flashes of red and blue shined through the curtains. His heart dropped as they stopped at his door.
Sirius’s eyes widened, and headed to the front door.

It wasn’t until twenty minutes had psssed that he had started to get more and more concerned about Lily.
“She only went to get sweets…” James said, frowning. Remus and Sirius exchanged a glance.
“Should we go out to check on her?”

It hadn’t been shortly after Lily’s departure that Remus and Sirius had arrived, hand in hand. They’d gone as a vampire and a werewolf. Sirius had overdone iy with fake blood, but it look cool against his leather jacket. Remus had carefully painted scars across his face.

“Drive safely!” He said, waving to her as she pulled out of the drive. He turned to Harry, booping his nose, “Let’s get our scary masks on!” He watched as Harry scrunched up his nose adorably, feigning anger. Adorable. He closed the door behind him, bouncing Harry on the side of his hip, humming.

James hummed, leaning into his wife’s touch. “Are you sure you don’t want me to go for you?”
Lily shook her head, “You’ll stay with Harry, try and entertain the kids before I come back with more sweets.”
His blue eyes softened as she got into the car, her hair blowing from the breeze.( 2/?)

MUGGLE AU
“I’m just going to nip out and grab some more sweets for the trick’or’treaters, I’ll be ten minutes.” Lily says, kissing James goodbye and waving to baby Harry- who had been dressed up in an adorable Scooby-Doo costume. (1/?)
