Quoted here talking about Alabama's decision to remove funding from student publications they claim run afoul of Trump Administration "non-discrimination" mandates.

TL;DR: That's hogwash and just cover to restrict students' 1A rights.

I teach journalism to lots of students every year. The majority use those skills in other professional contexts. If they can use journalism skills to identify a community’s information needs and fill them thoughtfully and effectively, they can add value in many different professional settings
