We need housing so badly, the idea of hobbling construction to allow for airplanes is ridiculous
Image of an early public demonstration of the telephone, captioned "new phone, who dis?"
It's the 150th anniversary of the first telephone call, and who can forget Alexander Graham Bell's first, immortal words?
I was stuck watching 1930s pulp serials as a kid... We had a black and white TV so that disadvantage was gone, and if there were other genre shows besides Dr Who, my parents didn't let me watch em! But the serials played when the old B&W movie of the week was done before Friday
I'd prefer florps

The greatest sci-fi western that ever was. #BruceCampbell
Yes!!!!
From that first scene with Peter providing artistic commentary on his gang member's painting on a rock, I knew it was going to be something special
YT thumbnail. An image of the Shah next to an image of a map of iran with an atom symbol superimposed "Iran Nuclear Program: The Cold War"
Are you, or is anybody you know, potentially interested in learning WHY Iran has a nuclear program in the first place? Are you curious as to how the developed it and if they had help in doing so?
Have i got the video for you... youtu.be/ZrNNeS31lNg

And on another note!
"In six weeks Britain could be destroyed by lurgi and that includes... You!"
Last night I finished watching "I Know Where I'm Going" (1945) which I'd describe as a nice little film for painting an idealized image of life in the Hebrides, but the romance is completely understated so... Perfectly British? π
And could be unapologetically fun
Not that I saw, but the men acted as infantry watching e.g. the south bank of the Rhine until we took Emmerich.
But then - I'm not clear on why - that battery was not deployed for the rest of the war.
The towed troops switched to act as infantry but their Ram towing vehs were used as infantry carriers (don't think they had Kangaroo conversion).
The last battery assisted 1st Corps in the Netherlands.
Had a look at a short history of 6th Canadian Anti-Tank Regiment today, a 2nd Corps unit with towed 17 pounders and 17 pounder Achilles.
In 1945, one of their batteries helped 53rd (Welch) Division fight through the Reichswald in February.
Do you know if at that time there even were ordnance teams set up to dispose of unexploded ammunition? Would he have known?
