To illustrate how crazy that tongues stuff is, it actually meant speaking in foreign languages. Jerusalem in 33 CE was a trading hub with multiple nationalities present. The early apostles found themselves able to preach in foreign languages. They did not speak gobbledygook and get the shakes!
