Sat down with Mick Kern for The Sports Lunatics Show and discussed Radko Gudas and his recent villainy. We talked about the hits, the injuries and we went through history talking about other hockey 'Public Enemies'. It's a fun show. Listen wherever you get your podcasts or through the link below.
A few summers ago, Reese and I went to the annual card show at the International Centre by the airport in Mississauga. We met Frank and Peter Mahovlich. Frank signed my card and Peter signed a picture that my brother painted many years ago. They were so gracious.
I think it was Jeff Healey who once asked the musical question, "So tonight, I'll ask the stars above, how do I ever listen to the Sports Lunatics Show on a Thursday?"
Well, Jeff, The Sports Lunatics Show airs every Thursday evening at 8 pm ET on blasttheradio.com ! Catch it there tonight!!
Today, I went for a walk. I wasn't going to but I had to grab my blue bin and after I did that, I thought, "what the heck."
It wasn't pleasant with all the ice accretion but, hey, once you're out there, you're out there. I achieved my goals for steps and heart points and that's what matters, eh?

Our latest Sports Lunatics Show episode is up. It's on the life and career of Lou Holtz. Listen wherever you get your podcasts or through the link in the comments below.
You never know who you might meet on your walks. A few minutes ago, I ran into this guy. Quiet fellow. A lot calmer than those Canada Geese I used to pass on Lebovic Avenue in Scarborough. Have a wonderful evening and stay active!
A weird day but a good late afternoon walk. So much of the snow that was there last week has melted and created a lot of puddles along my paths and sidewalks. But the temps have gone up. If it's like this tomorrow, I'll be wearing shorts.
A couple of comments that I saw this week about my latest book, An Unlikely Story, about the 1981 Ottawa Rough Riders and their most unlikely path to that year's Grey Cup. The folks who've read it loved it. You might too. Get it on Amazon.

It's Thursday. At 8 pm ET tonight, go online to BlastTheRadio.com and listen to The Sports Lunatics Show! We're just two regular guys who love sports history!
Here's an interesting page from the Edmonton Journal from mid-Feb, 1983. The St Louis Blues moving to Saskatoon, the Eskimos waiting for Dennis Erickson and a 10th team in the CFL in 1984! A wild news day! Or maybe not.....
My latest book, An Unlikely Story, about the 1981 Ottawa Rough Riders and their upset playoff wins over Mtl and Ham and their epic Grey Cup game, coming ohsoclose to upsetting Edmonton. Going into it, most gave them no chance of competing with the Esks......

We've got a new Sports Lunatics Show episode up. We look at the life and career of HoFer Bill Mazeroski. Also, 5 years ago today, we lost bot Chris Schultz and Walter Gretzky and we talk about both men. Also, the Weston Arena and other old rinks in Canada and their importance to their communities.
Had dinner with my son and his mom. I had one of these. A ginger ale with vanilla. It was great.
My son picked this up tonight. I'd never seen it before. You learn something new every day.....
In 1969, the St Louis Blues held training camp at Ottawaβs Civic Centre. In a preseason game against the Bruins, all hell broke loose. A stick swinging duel left Ted Green with a fractured skull. This is from my book, Crazy Days & Wild Nights. Get it on Amazon.

We're still waiting
This one is for the Ottawa people and the WHA fans. It's from my book The Consequences of Chance. There are a couple of personal stories in there as well. One finishes the book. Get it on Amazon.

....when the snow lay 'round about
Deep and crisp and even
Brightly shone the moon that night
Tho' the frost was cru-el.......
Cold night tonight. Took a break from writing to go for a little walk. Didn't stay out too long. Fell just short of 4 km. Stay warm, friends.
Someone brought this to my attention tonight. It's from my book MORE Crazy Days & Wild Nights. My friend, the legendary Enter-trainer, Brian Patafie told me a story about the great Guy Lafleur. This chapter finishes the book. Get this one on Amazon.
