Increasingly of the opinion that the correct answer to the Trolley Problem is "fuck you, why are you so fixated on finding reasons to justify killing people?"

Sheriff Luna addresses concerns after 10 inmates die in LA County jails so far this year Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna responded to concerns after the county's jail system recorded 10 in-custody deaths so far this year.

At least 10 people have died in Los Angeles County Jails this year (2 months). An unpleasant reminder that in-custody deaths are common AND very few people do anything about it.

These are not things that happen at camps which are not designed to kill the people they incarcerate. ICE centers are concentration camps.

States Move to Limit Access to H.I.V. Treatment

Tens of thousands of people in the U.S. are losing access to HIV treatment. And at the same time, most states still have laws that criminalize HIV.

The consequences of this policy failure will be dire and ripple through vulnerable communities.

These calls have one damn thing in freaking common [...] the unrestricted euphoria of their commanders + command chains [....] especially delighted with zeroing in on how bloody all of this must become in order to fulfill and be in 100% accordance with fund. Christian end of the world eschatology.

If Citizens United guaranteed corporations have "rights", why wouldn't that extend their liabilities as well? If our courts can sentence human people to death, surely corporate crimes can warrant the the same result.

As Trump Bombs Iran, We Need to Reckon With the American War Machine We cannot afford to slip into despair. We must push back against militarism everywhere, at every turn.

Essential reading. "We in the U.S. need to reckon with the fact that so much of our state wealth, capacity, and technology goes toward burying children in rubble."

We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time."
Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed.
That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.

U.S. officials say they expect this attack to be far more extensive than the American strikes last June against Iranian nuclear facilities.

This is an action aimed at 300 people.

This just highlights how vulnerable the transgender community really isβ€”and how monstrous these policies attacking them really are.
