Many people have said this before, but I think it bears repeating: you can just make stuff if you want
It doesn't have to be "good" or something you can sell. It doesn't have to be "important" or "innovative"
It can just be something you made

Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day by visiting your favorite local indies and finding the kinds of books that are commonly banned. Book bans happen in all fifty states, and target everything from BIPOC stories and authors, LGBTQ+ stories and authors, basic historical scholarship, sex education, feminism, to the very concept of empathy. These bans are a blight on our public institutions of learning, and on our communities who deserve so much better. So. Find some great books. Support your local indie. And post pictures of the good times you had with the hashtag #ReadFreely. Be sure to tag the local indies where you snapped the pics!
We'll have copies of Banned Book Bingo for ya at People's Book this Saturday 4/26 Independent Bookstore Day! Five in a row will get you a prize! Happy browsing! #readfreely @weneeddiversebooks.bsky.social @authorsabb.bsky.social @abfefreeexpression.bsky.social
I had the best Indian food of my life in Derry in 1985. In all these years, nothing has come close.
Okay this is it. Time for the power of book friends. Do delay; shop indie bookstore day on the 26th of April!
Excited for you!!
Gonna be real with you, this feels like an advertisement for spiritual death
Twitter post/pohoto from JK Rowling who sits on what looks like yacht, taking a puff of what looks like a cigar. She holds a cocktail close to her face and looks smug as fuck. Text on tweet: I love it when a plan comes together. #SupremeCourt #WomensRights.
Text on screen: our.moral.imperative British billionaire JK Rowling has posted several gloating tweets today after the UK Supreme Court ruled that only 'biological women' legally count as women, excluding trans women from legal protections and safeguards. Rowling's vicious smear campaign against trans people in Britain has been going on for several years now and has played a major role in cultivating the extremely hostile and toxic environment that exists in the country towards trans people, particularly in the name of liberal 'feminism'. @fight_for_a_future @rowllingofficial

This video is for all US citizens who are currently overwhelmed by Trump's more than 200 executive orders.
THIS should be retweeted to the MAX.
I never saw a more helpful video.
(It's about two minutes long. It's worth a lot.)
A day without an ao3 kudos report email is like a day without any mental health support because buddy that's pretty much what I'm working with at this point

US lawmakers: let's ban TikTok, what's the worse that can happen? Thereβs a collage of posts from a social media site Americans watching Chinese grocery hauls on XHS Rednote and realizing how much we're struggling to just eat real food in this country... THIS is what they were afraid TikTok would do - radicalize Americans to the truth 04.4K Q160 C264 722 watching grocery hauls on rednote is realizing people in China are paying le than $1 for a pound of corn and we pa more than $7 for the same amount... AND THE CORN IS GROWN HERE. β’ Chinese people on RedNote are finding out Americans actually have to work two jobs to survive, something previously believed was just government propaganda Someone on Rednote asked if it's true that in America, schools have active shooter drills and train teachers to figh against armed students or if that's just fearmongering propaganda from the news Someone in the comments of REDNOTE asked if people in the USA really had to pay for an ambulance in America or if that was just Chinese propaganda.... we've fallen so far behind as a country.

Imma need the News to stop talking about companies "Moving away from DEI" and start writing about how "White men aren't actually competitive in an open labor field and need exclusionary policies to keep pace."
I'm planning to shift my work-related FB group over to Discord. Maybe workable for you as well? I admit I don't know how great their privacy is, though.
You can post for likes with βWe need trans stories more than everβ
OR
you can readily find, purchase, and talk up the many, many, many trans stories that exist in your preferred format from an array of creative people. In the time you spent vaguely posting you couldβve done something tangible.

The single most satisfying thing to me as author is when I carefully lay teeny tiny clues to deliberately draw the reader along a trail, and then at the reveal they're like, HA I KNEW IT!
A gentle reminder that you should always resist the temptation to tag a creative person into a negative review of their work. It doesn't matter what your intentions are, it's kind of an asshole maneuver. You are free to say whatever you like, of course. Making it their problem, however, is not kind.
