My much cherished 1910 (11th ed) of the Encyclopedia Britannica has an entry for "atom" that ends with the statement below. I'm wondering what on earth is the "science of the transformations of energy"?
This totally depressing article in the November issue of Nature Biotechnology follows up on previous work on the same theme published in 2018 in the same journal by different authors. Not surprisingly, things have got worse not better.
