Tetsuya Nomura says there was a time when overseas art felt 'too intense' from a Japanese perspective. But working together with Wizards this time, he thought, 'Wow, this is amazing. And he thinks Japanese fans will really embrace this, too. (MTG, 3/10) #MTG #MagictheGathering
Asked about his illustration of Sephiroth for the project, Nomura mentions they're still in the middle of developing the FFVII REMAKE series. There are new fans who have just recently experienced FF7 for the first time, but he thinks it will be loved by both long-time and brand-new fans alike.
Nomura says it was a bit embarrassing looking at his older artwork. These are art pieces from 20 or 30 years ago, so to him it feels like someone in their 30s looking at sketches you drew when you were a toddler. He says they were meant to be blueprints for the dev teams, not finished pieces. #MTG
Despite how many times I've started a new file of FFX on PS2, PS4, and PC; I've never taken the time to beat it again. Especially since it was the 2nd FF I beat as a teen:
FFX-2 and Tactics remain as the last two Final Fantasy games in the Backlog. The goal is to have them beaten before FFVII:R3 releases (bonus points if I can do it before it's revealed π).
But before I jump in FFX-2, I want to finish up my FFX file that I started on the HDR.
Sixteen years to the day, but I've finally wrapped up the Fabula Nova Crystallis series. Feels good to close the book on this sub-series.

Square Enix shares an illustration of Celes Chere (Final Fantasy VI) for her March 10th birthday. The illustration by Fumio Minagawa was used for the "Dawn of Heroes" set of the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game released back in July 2023.
While these clips aren't quite 16 years old, they're still from what feels like a life time ago:

Yup, I know what I was doing 16 years ago. π
My PS3 collection of the FFXIII Trilogy
Also, speaking of time flying by: Final Fantasy XIII's worldwide release was 16 years ago.
My wife and I were so stoked for the new FF to come along and help lift our spirits after our housing situation fell apart. It took a few years for the trilogy to grow on me, but damn those sequels are fun.
Dang time flies.
During Final Fantasy XVI, Clive and Gav find Edda, a pregnant survivor of the atrocities in Waloed. It is she who explains the Arche myth, a foretold doom that resembles the Norse RagnarΓΆk. As it happens, the main sources of Norse lore are the Poetic Edda and Prose Edda books.
Happy International Women's Day.
Who else is ready to let women run the country instead of fascist pedophiles? π€
The game is fine; but if I had a nickel every time Capcom made a game where we play as a stylish white-suited lady in the future and the game ultimately becomes a hidden gem/sleeper hit... I think I'd only have 2 nickels. π π
Chaos Never Sleeps.
I know, novelty of getting a new thing of 90s thing is what our generation is currently feasting on.
Hope the noise I hear is sincere and not a symptom of crass consumerism.
We even worked with TrueOdin, the developer of FFNx, to fix several graphical effects that have been broken in the PC port ever since the original Eidos port in 1998. They now work as intended on PC for the first time, with or without SAC. Here's an example:

The first battle of FFVII, using the beta textures accessible from SAC's "Sampler Disc Battle Arenas" option.
Cloud watching a Honeybee Girl greet a guest at the Honeybee Inn in an unused sequence SAC restores.
Sephiroth explaining his anime villain plan with a new and improved translation.
As of now, FFNx and 7th Heaven mod manager are fully compatible with the new Steam and GoG release of FFVII! Our modβShinra Archaeology Cutβis fully compatible too!
With a new translation and hours of optional restored cut content, we believe this is the best way to experience this beloved classic!

I dunno. I associate Capcom risks with stuff like Onimusha: DoD, RE:ORC, DmC, Remember Me, Dark Void.
Would much prefer them to stay on course, support their current titles, and use their legacy IPs like Mega Man, Breath of Fire, and Dino Crisis as inspiration for new like Pragmata, DD, Exoprimal.
Damn, I appreciate all the Amano-era inspired outfits in Lightning Returns:
Krile, Alisaie, Urianger, Thancred, Alphinaud, G'raha Tia, Estinien, Y'shtola and the Warrior of Light are seen with the Mothercrystal in the background.

Cold hands. Doesn't matter how well rested you are or how perfectly the stick/pad feels in your hands, if them MFers are cold you can't move naturally and it impacts reaction times.
No joke, I've thought about getting a heat lamp just for my hands when I play.
Naoki Hamaguchi says that considering that toward the end of FFVII Rebirth, weβre in the Forgotten City β and in the original you would go into Icicle Inn from there β he guesses that hints at how the third installment will begin. #FF7R #FFVII #FF7
TBH, I was hoping that places like Modeoheim and Barona would be incorporated into Icicle Inn and Mideel.
Nojima says he's approaching the scenario on the assumption that the story will essentially follow the flow of the OG, with small changes to how things are presented and the events that take place. He'd personally like to include villages that first appeared in Crisis Core: FFVII. (7RU, 2020) #FF7R
FF7R co-director Motomu Toriyama says there were times where the original version of FF7 became a hindrance. Specifically, staff members with a strong attachment to Final Fantasy VII would often hold themselves back for fear of deviating too much from the original. (7RU, 2020)
