Today we celebrate the Day of the National Anthem of Ukraine!

Its first public performance took place on March 10, 1865, in Przemysl as the final number of a concert dedicated to Taras Shevchenko.

1/ March 10 — Ukraine's National Anthem Day
"Ukraine Has Not Yet Perished" has a powerful history. Some claim the Polish anthem inspired it, but Pavlo Chubynsky wrote the lyrics in 1862 in Kyiv, long before that idea emerged.

Small clarification:
Universities like Charles University (1348) and Jagiellonian University (1364) are older.

But Ostroh Academy (1576) was the first higher educational institution in the lands of modern Ukraine and the first Slavic-Greek-Latin academy in Eastern Europe.

Founded in 1576, the Ostroh Academy was the first higher education institution in Eastern Europe.
In 1581, it printed the Ostroh Bible - the first complete Church Slavonic Bible.
In the 16th century, Ostroh Academy was already teaching Greek, Latin & the seven liberal arts.

House with Chimeras, built in 1901–1903 by architect Vladislav Horodetskyy, this Kyiv landmark was an early concrete experiment.
Rhinos, crocodiles & sea monsters cover the fасade. The sculptures were created by Italian master Elio Sala.
Today, it hosts official state events on Bankova Street

2/ 12 years of war.
4 years of full-scale invasion.
We remember every life given for our independence.
We stand. We fight. We hold the line.
Ukraine will be.

1/ 4 a.m., Feb 24, 2022.
From occupied Crimea, through Kalanchak, columns of Moscow’s army rolled into Ukraine.
The full-scale invasion began.
Missiles. Armor. Fire.
But they did not break us.

1/ On this day in 1992, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the trident (tryzub) as the Small State Emblem, linking modern Ukraine to its millennia-old heritage.

1/ In the heart of Zaporizhzhia lies one of its coziest spots - Taras Shevchenko Boulevard.
Created during the city’s post-WWII reconstruction, it was renamed in 1989 to honor the Kobzar. A green alley that’s become a true city landmark.

In the Bernardine Courtyard stands a well built in 1620. Legends say it arose from a healing spring at the burial site of St. John of Dukla (1484).
In 1761, a rotunda with his statue crowned the well. During the full-scale war, the sculpture was removed for restoration, and in Feb 2024 it returned.
