There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes. It’s like the Watergate tapes but posted on social media. Let’s get a grip on what’s happening here.
In trying to rationalize the decisions by media companies to shut down late night shows media executives need to look at the big picture. Capitalism is morally bankrupt if profit comes regardless of the ethical and human consequences.

Remember that this case was one of three examples (the other being Adam Schiff and Lisa Cook) where Trump official claimed mortgage fraud, and asked DOJ to investigate. The weakness of one of the James cases casts further doubt that the Cook/Schiff cases can hold up to scrutiny.

The real issue isn’t left vs right.
It’s not white vs black.
It’s not citizen vs immigrant.
It’s not gay vs straight.
The real issue is that a lot of powerful people have a vested interest — and a lot of money invested — in dividing us, and it’s working.

What the American public is going to learn, regrettably is that these negative implications of tariffs don’t happen instantly. Even worse is that the public is not even engaged because Republicans in Congress are looking the other way and allowing damage to be done without legislation.

We have do’s/don’ts available to us. Don’t disengage, self-censor, become cynical, doom scroll, deny our history.
Do engage with loved one’s/neighbors/friends to raise awareness, choose something you can do, support others who can engage more, learn from our history, take our future for granted.
One of the choices that all of us have, that no one can take away is our power to decide, to choose our thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Robert Reich talked talked about not falling into denial or despair. I also see another “d” and that is disengagement. Engage others to protect our country.
