The defender slowing down, completely unaware anyone’s lurking, contrasted with Rothrock at a full sprint, shifting gears into whatever comes after a full sprint, is 🤌🤌🤌
Very impressive win. And a great way to top off sine die.
No. But maybe there’s still time? It was the perfect way to experience that ritual, especially back then, when it really felt like guerilla theatre or something. Have seen them loads of times since. It’s always great, but the first - the most ritualistic - still the best/most transformative.
A big lightning bolt fan? It also just provided a gateway, a how-to-like-this for a whole large group of heavier/weirder sounds. Friend of a friend told us to go see this show and to NOT look up *anything* about them. Which was perfect. If I’d read a description, I might not have gone.
I really wish I’d thought to record some of what they told me back then.
I had 2-3 experiences like that with Sleater-Kinney in a positive sense, where they went from cool local indie band to actual rock goddesses (part of it was playing places with better sound than an all-ages basement).
Had never heard of Lightning Bolt before seeing them in 2000 and it changed me.
Absolutely!
At this point I just want Spurs out of the CL to focus on staying up in the league. What had been a great story and a ray of light is just more humiliation now.
(Also hoping that at this rate Obed Vargas can get a run in the 2nd half for Atletico)
Yes, I grew up without religion and always looked at it through an anthropological lens. I almost sought it out; not to convert, but to observe. Watched a lot of evangelical TV, not getting references, missing the jokes, and just gawking at the aesthetic and the arguments.
Where is this?
Reds, Pinks + Purples have released so much music in the past several years. Lots of great stuff to explore in there.
My dog is scared of garbage bins too. Walks on garbage day/recycling day can be rough.
I played boys at a school nearby and like Lakes, we had some military brats. The stories of pick up games on base were almost whispered reverently before practice.
A framed certificate naming Kate Starbird a parade all-American in the 1992-93 season.
I’m at Lakes high school this morning as my daughter is in an event here. If you’re my age, Lakes high is associated with one name, a legendary athlete. Shockingly, it’s not Seahawks Super Bowl champ WR Jermaine Kearse. For me, this is @katestarbird.bsky.social ‘s school.
Not just infused…anointed.
A bit of Mick McCarthy in that. Always good to see.
Seattle legend (and Mariner for 3 games) Stuart Fairchild with a grand slam for Taiwan vs. Czechia.
Tiguere for me.
A male howler monkey on a thick gauge wire rope. His back has lighter brown fur while his legs, face and chest are darker. His mouth is open and his left paw is in front of his face; his right paw grips the wire.
The father monkey was a better photo. I like it, and can’t quite believe I got to be there. (Costa Rica)
A baby howler monkey clings to its mother. Both have light reddish/brown fur on their backs and very dark legs. The baby is looking at the camera while the mother keeps her eyes forward, moving right to left.
Not a great shot, but I like this mom and baby howler monkey.
As a kid I learned that my Mariner favorites would play no part in the postseason, but the trade of Owen/Hendu was revelatory. Henderson’s iconic home run was iconic image, but Spike was great in the ALCS and WS that year. More importantly (debatable), he played SS at the first M’s game I went to.
That wins. Maybe Joe Singlett, or Kristopher Negroni, or Garth Iorgy? Thong still the leader in the clubhouse.
*didn’t
I still can’t quite believe the Hippos don’t get back together because the singer was too busy producing Madonna, U2, Adele, and Charli XCX.
When the groom, like you, is a tater, and you *know* there are some pappy van winkle or obscure Weller tastings going on… what are you going to think when you see a hastily erected screened off area?
You get in there. You are the man in the arena.
Nooooooooo.
I have made gumbo and understand how that could happen, but also a restaurant can’t let that happen.
Yeah, hadn’t seen that until you pointed it out. Stunned how wrong we all were in the crowd re: what they were even looking at.
I like that. They can poison the well with commentary before ref goes to the monitor, but good call. Still striking that this all stemmed from Pro getting the rules wrong. Once the VAR opined that the injured player played Dotson on side, that was it. They called a foul on a result, not an action.
What about Henry Wingo?
