Map of the ME showing the two straits
Yemen’s Houthis have announced they’ll be joining the war in support of Iran shortly. Analysts expect them to shut down another strait, Bab El-Mandeb, which will close the Suez Canal. The global economy hangs by a thread.
"People ask if Bluesky is mostly about liberal politics. It’s not. There’s a strong, active cohort of people who love to talk about politics, but political posts are less than 10% of the network."
Yes. Because Bluesky is the Canadian sports app.
if you see this, post a vampire that isn't dracula:
It’s such a dopey yet perfect example of Ontario’s petty dictatorship that this law has been drafted because Doug Ford wanted to shop at a Home Depot on a holiday but it was closed. WHEN will we finally vote Biff Tannen out?
There was lots of protest when #Japan announced it was building the world's first bullet-train in the early 1960s.
They went ahead and built it—and now the low-emission, affordable, convenient shinkansen system is the envy of the world.

Just a couple close friends, bonding over shared interests (naked ambition, pretending Toronto is a suburb)
Cycling side-by-side isn’t bad behaviour—it’s human behaviour. It’s how parents talk to their kids. How friends catch up. How communities form.
If bicycle infrastructure is too narrow for people to ride and talk together, the problem isn’t the people. It’s the infrastructure.

Telling that one of the most absolutely pro-motorist lobbying groups have said "we are not responsible for parking".
with the way last budget went, it's understandable that mayor chow didn't want to spend money on big money items, but i hope PSDs become a universal policy position across political leanings next election.
and I'm sure it will. it's an obvious safety solution.
One of the nice things about getting platform doors done on the Skytrain in Vancouver is that because the stations are so much smaller, it would cost way less than in Toronto. Some of these stations are busy…surprised they haven’t done it to simplify the automation!

They blew up USAid and doomed millions to an agonizing death but a video of them being an idiot on camera is causing reputational damage
Nearly six months behind bars. No bail. When they finally dismissed the charges they released her in North Dakota with no winter clothes & no means of getting back home to Tennessee. They upended this woman's life.
not surprising but still worth lingering on that proud, self-avowed Nazis say journalists and anti-hate groups pose a bigger threat to white supremacist groups than cops
this shit has been happening with facial recognition, just that it's never talked about because it's towards racialized communities
she wasn't just detained ... she was incarcerated for SIX MONTHS without bail and was completely ruined financially. they dumped her IN WINTER WIThOUT A COAT when the charges were dropped. surely 6 months unjust imprisonment should be a tidy few million. some lawyer needs to jump on this pro bono
So who's gonna pay for this "A.i." error?
No one?
No one, right?
All right then.
Burn it all down.
everyone gangsta until they actions have consequences
Interpreters are easily one of the most exploited groups of employees I have worked with. Because they’re often considered contractors, they lack the protections of the companies they’re working for, and their deployment companies don’t compensate for the level of skill and training.

NEW: The Ford government is planning to change transparency laws in Ontario to stop the release of any messages involving ministers and staff, a retroactive move which could also keep the premier’s cellphone records permanently secret. #Onpoli

You need to eat my shit and hair. Students were literally beaten, expelled and tear gassed. You did not want them to protest. Fuck you and if someone sees you they should spit in all your faces
