Thanks for the correction @notpodium.bsky.social! Podium πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ - what was I thinking?! That's what I get for operating on 3 hours of sleep! I'm honestly surprised that I'm forming sentences at this point. πŸ€ͺ

Also, I'm new here. If you're not a bot, how do you edit alt text within a previous skeet?

Really enjoyed listening to the #TRB Minority Student Fellows
present their research. Always one of my favorite poster sessions at #TRBAM

If you attend TRB, consider rounding up at registration or adding on a donation to support this excellent program!

Four photos in a grid. From top left to bottom right: 1 Union Station Great Hall pillars topped with statues, 2 Photo of two feet standing on the classic Metro brown hexagonal tile, 3 picture of a silver metro rail car pulling into the station, 4) pictures of the inside of the metro rail car, the doors are open and the glass separator between the seat and door has the Metro logo etched into the glass. In the middle right, the text reads Metro opens doors.

This #TransitThursday, I'm thankful to live near an accessible, clean bus stop with frequent, reliable bus service. What about your transit experience are you thankful for this #TransitThursday?

Reid Ewing and crew here on the classic transit planning question, what consultant @humantransit.bsky.social calls the ridership-coverage tradeoff: do you maximize ridership with frequent buses in areas with the most riders or do you send buses to every corner of the city but less frequently?

Thanks!

I'm still figuring out Bluesky. Not sure I threaded the story correctly. ::SIGH:: Missing the old Twitter days...

I know I've said it before, but thanks for writing your book. I enjoy how much it keeps me thinking.

Loving the video game influences. Truly jealous that you grew up in an Amtrak family!!

A mix of...
- Playing a lot of SimCity, where transit is OP
- A dad working for Amtrak where I got to camp out at & explore 30th St Station, as well as play with track management training software
- ...

I love it
"...this is good?"
I'm also super jealous! I imagine that even in the 80's Singapore had better transit options than most of the US.

I hope we can all help change that!

I love this story! Thanks for sharing Kendra! I completely resonate with the "not driving first" mindset - it truly shifts one's perspective on travel.

I didn't learn to drive until I was 19. In HS, a fellow XC teammate was struck and killed by a driver. It would be years before I realized how much this tragedy affected my feelings about driving. It also built a core value within me - safer streets for people.

In high school, my mom took a job in DC while we still lived in Raleigh. We'd visit & she'd hand me a metro card and let me explore the city. My first πŸš‡ experience. Riding was like nothing I'd experienced before.

High capacity transit in cities just made sense. #MyTransitStory #TransitThursday

I grew up in Detroit sprawl hearing about long-dead transit routes.
I constantly read about Portland's transportation and land use and moved there, working for years to promote the best research on biking, walking and transit.
Then I couldn't afford it and left for a small city.
