Cheers Kris - yeah been a weird and slow start to the year. Keen to get back into it tho! Happy new years to you and yours! Hope all is well.
Aw thanks John! 🖤
Hehe, I know what you mean. Aw thanks Kris - that means a lot.
Though take me with a grain of salt where mainstream haiku is concerned. My own approach is somewhat distinct to the Haiku Foundation or any of the major journals. ;-)
Love the size of this one! It expands and contracts.

Wonderful and poignant! 🖤

This is the way!
doubting even
that i know nothing—
burning
in the flame of summer,
flame of poetry
🖤
Good for you! Love that 🖤
Yes exactly this. I ended up leaving all haiku communities about 5-6 years ago for this very reason. Not that I didn’t meet good people, but the framework was wrong from the outset - based as you point out in power and territorialization. So much confusion and fragmentation and gatekeeping.
This is exactly what I am hoping the book will be - because I had exactly the same experience and it was deeply frustrating a lot of the time haha. It’s taken about ten years to gather all the fragments together - and there’s still more to come, but I’m getting there haha.
Aw cheers! Really appreciate the commentary and share! Yeah agreed - I am working on a much larger book which will address many of these questions. It's a complex task figuring out the best way to approach it, while also being useful for beginners, etc. Will start work on it properly next year. 🖤
Hahahaha - love the senryū-spin on this one!
Awww love this John - I'm always a sucker for poems about writing the poem 🖤
Aw nice 🖤
An old #haiku of mine from 2009;

Beautiful Kris - a light and supple tsukeku to Chiyo's hokku. I am sure she would approve! 🖤
Aw beautiful Kris - has a real depth to it. Wonderful cap! 🖤
Lovely! 🖤
Haha - love that John. Most of my ku are written that way now too. On the move . . .
Always brother 🖤
It seems like introducing sound was definitely the vibe for capping this verse. A nice play on the original John.
Lovely Joe! 🖤 Wonderful sense of scale in this one, from the very very large, to the very very small.
Aw, a gentle and intimate cap John, with a lot of karumi. 🖤
