You look at science (or at least talk of it) as some sort of demoralizing invention of man, something apart from real life, and which must be cautiously guarded and kept separate from everyday existence. But science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated.

The silence of the pharmaceutical industry to protest the ongoing destruction of NIH is horrifying. We train the workforce and feed their drug pipeline.

Mouse models of gender affirming hormone therapy can improve outcomes for trans people and for any cis person with hormones or receiving hormone therapies.
What helps is standing in solidarity with us, speaking on the importance of and fighting for the research, not jokes about "transgenic mice" 🧪

Before it is all taken down, a good reminder that the NIH has (or maybe had) an expansive definition of what constitutes diversity. So this means less participation by #womeninSTEM, #URMinSTEM, #disabledinSTEM, plus those that grew up rural, #firstgen, unhoused, or low-income.

Scientific advancements aside, this is economically irresponsible
Every $1 spent by NIH generates $2.46
For example, in 2023, $47B in NIH spending generated ~$93B
Halting NIH spending will LOSE the US a lot of money (and talent)
