I've yet to test everything because I'm waiting on some parts that I *didn't* transport but cross your fingers everything made it okay!
And now you know how I got shit here. Hooray!

Two huge fuckin video cards in a foam layer
Layer 3 (last layer): a pair of 5070s, one for each rig. One plays games, the other encodes video like a fuckin beast.
I used their retail box foam and just cut rectangles in the pelicase foam, lol
Another foam layer with cutouts for several platter HDDs, multiple sticks of RAM, and an avermedia live gamer 4k internal capture card
Layer two: platter hard drives (SSDs/CPUs were left on mobos), RAM, capture card
Extremely amateur job at making laptop indents in a foam layer of a pelican case. Two large, rough hewn rectangles make the shape of the boards while various height foam is carved out for the taller parts
Here's what the foam looked like underneath. Yes, I made a fuckin dog's dinner out of it. I said I had no time to practice and had to go all in first try.
The indents are in the shape of various heat sinks/RAM bays, etc
Open pelicase. Two motherboards are seated in the layer of safety foam in anti-static bags. The lid, open on a hinge, has egg-crate foam on its inner side.
It takes practice! I didn't have time for that shit so my attempt was hilariously bad as you'll see below!
Anyway, here's layer one: the motherboards. I tried some plastidip technique but again, no time for practice so it sucked.
Inside it comes with three layers of what they call "pick n pluck" foam. It comes semi perforated in a grid pattern. You pull out what you need and leave the rest. TRY to pull out what you need in blocks so you can cut to depth with a long blade box cutter!
The pelican case in question from above, rectangular, large, yellow.
Hey gilder! How the Sam Hill did you get two PCs worth of delicate components through 30 hours of air travel?
Well I'll show you. It starts with this, a bright yellow because it was cheaper than black or orange by 50 bucks, a Pelican 1637 Air Case
yeah, but at least i get to bring you lunch and stuff since we're both sick nowπ
It's also why I HATE HATE HATE that generative AI slop has invaded the space. I want human-made silliness and weird experiences, not some vibe coded art thievery bullshit.
This is
a) why I changed "Bad Game Theater" to "The Jank Tank" (to have a less pejorative title)
b) the whole reason The Jank Tank exists
and c) why I *insist* viewers know we're there to laugh at the cool jank, NOT at the developers.
We've found some *amazing* "less loved" games out there
Mission failed, got Jenn sick π
like, i hope all those jank ass horror games we've played that just slap the built in "pixel filter" on top of modern, curved surface, high poly models in unity/ue4 and call it "retro" take some damn notes because THIS is what it should look like.
this is *stunning*, holy shit. I can't even fathom how complex the visual rendering has to be to make this pixel effect look SO GOOD, but wow.
and it rules, holy shit

sure do love the ozempic jokes streamers make nowadays every time some sort of injector is used in a game. love that yet another medication i take to help keep me actually ticking is the butt of jokes and ridicule.
hope you never end up needing stigmatized medication, you fucking twats.
i think i like everything about StS2 except Vantom. No enemy in any deckbuilder needs 9 stacks of damage invuln on base difficulty
we learned that with monster train 2's stealth boss.
This is a little rambling because I've been fighting a cold for the past three days, but jfc stop missing the forest for the trees.
People are broke and governments don't give a fuck.
People are buying cheap ass retro games because cheap fits in their budgets and they still need entertainment.
Heroes III is selling big on GoG because it's ten bucks for a 110 hour long "just the main story" time to beat. Hell it's on sale for $5 right now.
Where else are you getting 110 hours of game for one Abe Lincoln?
It's not because of the graphic fidelity or lack thereof.
IT'S AFFORDABLE.
Retro games that aren't priced like you're only releasing to cash in on someone who can't let childhood go but are, instead, fairly priced since they're like 20+ years old are gonna sell *because they're cheaply (appropriately) priced.*
They're gravitating toward retro titles because *emulation is free and people are fuckin broke,* not because "graphics don't matter."
It's the capitalism, boss. It's always *been* the capitalism, boss.
Indies are cheaper than any GaaS w/monthly fees, and emulation is *fuckin free.*
And that's the indie darling sequel that had around 600K concurrents and a massive visual overhaul from its prequel *in chats for streamers known to play StS1 as a mainstay*
Imagine the shit that games with significantly less budget and dev time get.
Lmao you can go into any large twitch chat and see that this theory is nowhere near even remotely true.
Seen in multiple StS2 chats:
"Shit lookin like a mobile game"
"this looks just like StS1 again, lazy devs didn't change shit"
"graphics are trash"
"Should just be dlc if it's same graphics"
Man I haven't had a cold in like five years. This one is *annihilating* me. Send help and/or sleep.
every time some dumbass chatter tells a newbie the only viable way to play a deckbuilder is the thinnest deck possible, an angel gets kicked in the junk and has their wallet stolen

Oh man I remember this in Gran Turismo 4
(if you get this joke without looking it up, you're officially fuckin cool)
Sgt. Deux Deux from The Pink Panther cartoons. He is a french policeman in period appropriate uniform. He wears a blue overcoat, a dark blue uniform, and has a tall blue and red banded hat.

man, i got TURBO sick on the flight over here, apparently. @gamer.baby and i have been sleeping in separate rooms just so i *hopefully* avoid giving her this mess. She's been such a hero, cooking me nourishing meals and running out to the store for cough medsπππ i owe her THE biggest date night
