yeah lol for a moment reading this i was like, is this word salad or am i just stupid? and i picked up on the sentence structure feeling like the script for an extended cinema-only type movie trailer and uh yeah
imo this attitude is a big factors behind people developing AI psychosis. people who see themselves as fundamentally different to ~the undesirables~ also imagine themselves immune to mental or physical illness, poverty, etc, which in turn leaves them wide open to the glorified flowchart mind killer
much like the people who use and defend it, AI is incapable of originality or authenticity. its chief appeal is to self-absorbed people who think themselves a class apart, superior to their peers -- nobody has better ideas, nobody's thoughts are worth hearing, nobody's efforts deserve recognition
if we pretend the nyt article was written in good faith (it wasn't) & therefore worth responding to (it isn't) it still approaches the topic from an incredibly naive & shallow angle. even if ai was capable of generating masterful prose (it isn't) it can never truly create anything the way humans do
bonus points: the human author in question one is cormac mccarthy and i have not read a word of his that i didn't hate LOL
on top of that what *i* would call 'how it may have been written' can be a huge part of the appeal of any given work like i refuse to believe there's a single creator of anything in this world who's been interviewed and NOT asked on how they do what they do
