Those eyes have blue in them. A soft dusting of the color that she has seen most often in the dawn sky, in the reflections of puddles after rain, in the in between moments where the world quiets and feels most alive. Not now. Now the air thickens. Now the grip on her hand goes limp and those very same eyes take on a panic. She regrets speaking even as a part of her recoils further at the thought of lying. The devil and the deep blue sea. Which of them is she? "I apologize," she says. "I should know you, shouldn't I?" There is a scar on the woman's top lip, she notices, as her lips part in a tremble. "Cait," that same name is breathed with a gravity, with a weight, with a plea. It slides deftly through the spaces in her ribs even though there is no logical reason why it should hurt. But she doesn't need an explanation. Perhaps she has not needed one this whole time.

Hey i think that if you're gonna write a fic about disabled characters, there are a few guidelines you should follow: -have someone with the disabilities in question look at your fic -don't treat disability as a trope; it's not a costume to take on and off (this includes using disability purely for whump factor, hurt/comfort, meetcutes, or as a vehicle for you to show off how cool and inclusive you are by writing about disabled people) -again, i have to stress. have someone with the disabled identity in question look at your fic -you may think that you are creating "good representation" by removing all challenges your characters' disabilities pose to their lives. you are not. talk to disabled people in real life, i'm begging you sincerely, an actual disabled person who is sick of seeing disability poorly written about in fandom

Well, she could tuck and roll right out onto the highway, but there’s a few flaws in that plan. “Vi,” Caitlyn says, and her voice is like stepping into a warm bath. This is really not good. It’s like she’s holding a carrot, just out of reach, and Vi is the pathetic little bunny excitedly waiting for it. Except it’s definitely not like that at all, because Vi has the willpower of steel. Obviously. “This is not the time for that,” Vi mutters.
