Learned this week that my dissertation advisor shows up in the Epstein files. π¬ Long after I graduated but still π¬. dailynorthwestern.com/2026/02/10/t...
In my experience, it was fast. We were looking for our third round of funding β overnight everything dried up. It didnβt matter that we had a successful product and customers. No one would take our calls. Within two weeks, weβd burned though our last dollar and that was it.
No longer living anywhere near the Hopleaf so I am more than a little envious. πΊ

CU Boulder has the same policy, but they are also saying that they expect the indirect rate cut to be overturned and will go back to allowing grant submissions after that. They don't want to submit a grant with 15% overhead and then end up stuck with that if/when the policy is overturned.
π§ͺ ICYMI: $25,000 bridge funding for terminated NSF grants.
Major props for to the Spencer, Sloan, W. T. Grant, and Kapor Foundations for their swift action, even though we (and they) know this is a band-aid fix.
Due May 30. Applications are brief: a 2-3 page memo of 6-month plans & other docs.
"Staff members at the US National Science Foundation (NSF) were told on 30 April to βstop awarding all funding actions until further notice,β according to an email seen by Nature."

In the lean-back listening environment that streaming had helped champion, listeners often werenβt even aware of what song or artist they were hearing. As a result, the thinking seemed to be: Why pay full-price royalties if users were only half listening?

Two years into the AI boom, it's imperative we understand the true power of "AGI"βas a narrative tool useful for winning investment, talent and headlines.
My report for AI Now details how OpenAI used the story of a rising AI that will replace humans to replace the need for an actual business model.
I must be still such a CS person 'cause when I read "When Theory Leads", my first thought was "Great, another argument for mathematical proofs of program correctness". π
you are not a serious person if your fear of A.I. is βwhat if scary computer decide 2 extinct humansβ and not the health insurance companies using it to sentence people to death
New study predicts that AI will steal almost a quarter of musiciansβ income within the next 4 years (Source: CISAC).
The gaslighting is over. Artists now fully grasp the AI business modelβwhich is to destroy their livelihood and replace human music with bot slop.
