Karoline Leavitt…ugh. What a shrill shill.

Senator Foghorn Leghorn, who lives in a very nice New Orleans suburb, not a barn, is dumb as a fox. He chooses to play dim, lulling his opponents into dismissing him before he delivers a zinger. When my husband sees him on the news, he yells “Where’s your avocado toast, you poser?”
Jumping into the race after Talirico plowed the field was pure opportunism. I remember when earnest but dull Gene McCarthy was gazumped by a flashier RFK in 1968 after he’d done all the heavy lifting. She’s too far left to win in a general election here. Less extreme Talirico has a good chance.
Funny, I don’t remember this from “1984.”
Trump in his “mob-boss” coat…who’s gonna tell him he looks a lot more like Uncle Buck?
We have stopped watching CBS Nightly News. Makes me sad, I always respected it prior to now. Still tuning in to 60 Minutes for as long as it exists - but I expect its days are numbered.
Trump just vandalized the Kennedy Center. I find no reference to anything being DONE about it! Is there no entity that can sue the Kennedy Center board to have his name removed? The building is technically a national monument, just like the Lincoln Memorial, not just a performing arts center.
Lord Byron (Byronic)
Same but June 10 1981 French Open. OB/GYN, anesthesiologist, husband all watching the tennis as I’m trying to have a baby…🙄
Why aren’t Dems using this as part of their push-back? It’s a powerful message and MAGA, or at least many of them, are growing uncomfortable with his dangerous behavior. Drill this home now, keep talking about it. Mid-terms are coming!
Here is the MAGA mindset. This tragedy was avoidable but camp owners fought costly regulations to ensure campers’ safety. And Kerr county didn’t want to use tainted federal $ for better flood control.
Stupid all around. The law suits are coming and no one will send their girls there ever again.

Excellent piece. I wish I could recall the title of a book I read a few years back about the leaders after the founders (Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, John C Calhoun). The fractures that Hertling discusses first appeared in their battles in Congress. Daniel Webster was a “fire-eater” for the north.
Today marks seven years since John McCain’s passing, a loss not only for Arizona but for our nation. John defined service, always put country over party, and was exactly the kind of leader we need more of in Washington these days. He is missed.
Happy Birthday, girl! Mine’s tomorrow (8/20)! I’ll join you for a cryfest in the car😉
Saw it. Vomit.
Doesn’t exactly evoke the journalistic spirit of
Cronkite; sounds more like a podcast.
☹️
“Freedom” not in the Pledge. It’s “liberty and justice for all” at the end.
At least for me, any candidate in the Dem primary who doesn’t pledge to immediately return the WH and the grounds to the way it was before Trump turned it into Mar-a-Lago on the Potomac is automatically disqualified. The massive ballroom, garish gold plated foil, all of it gone.
😝
Bove? Nasferatu? Uncanny resemblance🤔
😬
Oopsie is right! But I have to say, in a demonstration protesting violation of U.S.due process/constitutional rights, I’m old school enough to note that waving the Mexican or Palestinian flag is not helpful and muddies the message. Really wish they’d put those flags away.
Government by Luddites.
Substitute TX for FL - ditto
When did starting a sentence with “So” become normal???
