Every time ppl have modeled adoption and cost for wind and solar they've missed the mark dramatically under. This has been happening for decades.

The annoying thing about the Grammarly thing for me isn't really the basic idea, it's that they say "inspired by" but what clearly seems to be happening is Grammarly is coming up with a suggestion of its own and then looking for a high profile name to hang it on for cred.

right, there's an indie bookstore near me that has a big PLEASE DO NOT STEAL sign and like there is just no circumstance under which stealing from an independent bookstore does not make you a dickwad.

The store is like a 10 minute walk from the main branch of the library, too! Which has free books.

The issue here is not whether Bluesky can be a profitable business on subscriptions+some ads - it almost certainly can. It just can't be that at *software margins* - and we don't know if the investors will accept "normal, profitable business" or break the whole thing in search of software margins.

I live in New York City and pay very high taxes on a modest income; I'm happy to do so because I get a lot for those taxes and to support the services the city and state provide. I wish that and better for my fellow citizens.

This is one of my favorite infusions! Two recommendations:

-highball, just infused gin with seltzer and a big squeeze of lemon

-Negroni, with equal parts infused gin, Cynar (Cynar 70 if you can find it), Cocchi Vermouth di Torino (or other rich sweet vermouth). Herbal and cocoa and perfect balance
