This is particularly talking about one month, last September, the end of the fiscal year, to burn through their budget allocation. That said, the article notes lobster tail is apparently a favorite with $6.9M spent on it in September plus another $7.4M spent on it in March, May, June and October.

OP draws a bad, mistaken conclusion, but the headline is also incredibly misleading and appears to absolve the lone drunk driver of responsibility for the trajectory of his life…all in the name id clickbait.
The subhead continues playing into this fictional fraud: “Steve Emt was a walk-on basketball player at the University of Connecticut before a drunk driving accident changed the direction of his life.” But was it a shitty copy editor or just out-of-touch AI?
The story is one of redemption, which is cool. However the headline makes it sound as if the guy was an innocent victim of a drunk driver, when he’s anything but: “A drunken driver's car crash left him paralyzed. Now he's a Paralympian.” This is absurd clickbait BS. WTAF rohannadkarni.bsky.social?
