Reaching net zero by 2050 ‘cheaper for UK than one fossil fuel crisis’ Climate change committee finds move to renewable energy would also bring health, economic and security benefits

Clear message from @thecccuk.bsky.social which anyone proposing that the answer to a fossil fuel crisis is somehow more fossil fuels should be able to understand.

Tonight, 22 January, is #CleanAirNight2026, and we're raising awareness of the dangers of wood burning stoves. These stoves not only put the health of you and those around you at risk, but wood burning harms the planet, and creates more harmful carbon emissions than other sources of heat.

I’m sharing this video again because people don’t really get what these data centers and ai are doing to our planet and our communities. Especially Black communities because they were strategically placed there.

I need you to listen to these people.
STOP USING AI. STOP SUPPORTING AI.

Organisers of Clean Air Night (Thursday 22 Jan) say “wood burning is the most polluting way to heat your home”. One poorly operated stove can affect dozens of nearby households & the surrounding ecosystem, & even newer “eco-design” stoves release more particulate pollution hourly than many vehicles.

Do you know the hidden costs & harms of woodburning stoves? Nearly 2,500 UK deaths per year are attributed to the health harms linked to fine particulates produced by domestic burning, including heart & lung damage, diabetes & dementia. #welovecleanerair

Nature not a blocker to housing growth, inquiry finds Commons committee report challenges ‘lazy narrative’ used by ministers that scapegoats wildlife and the environment

This is what many of us have been saying. Part 3 of the Planning & Infrastructure Bill is based on a myth: that we don't have enough homes because wildlife and green spaces are protected. It will solve nothing, and inflict terrible harm on our remaining ecosystems

No prosecutions made after 15,195 wood-burning complaints in a year in England Campaigners say figures reveal a lack of enforcement with just 24 fines issued by councils for rule violations

BREAKING: Our latest research shows a 65% increase in complaints in Smoke Control Areas across England since last year.

Families across the country are suffering from neighbours’ burning, yet even after thousands of complaints, barely a handful of fines have been issued. #AirPollution #WoodBurning

Climate investment is growth opportunity of 21st century, says economist Lord Stern says fossil-fuelled growth is futile as the damage it causes ends in economic self-destruction Investment in climate action is the economic growth story of the 21st century, the economist Nicholas Stern has said. Growth fuelled by fossil fuels is futile, he said, as the damage it causes ends in self-destruction. The plummeting costs of clean technologies, from renewable energy to electric cars, plus the healthier and more productive societies they enable, mean investments can simultaneously tackle the climate crisis and faltering economic growth, and bring millions of people out of poverty. Planet’s first catastrophic climate tipping point reached, report says, with coral reefs facing ‘widespread dieback’ Unless global heating is reduced to 1.2C ‘as fast as possible’, warm water coral reefs will not remain ‘at any meaningful scale’, a report by 160 scientists from 23 countries warns

Losing coral reefs is losing a vital resource for hundreds of millions of people and the home of about a quarter of all marine species. How much longer can filthy rich fossil fuel companies avoid accountability for fuelling the climate crisis in times like these? www.theguardian.com/environment/...

This speculation around new licensing is a complete distraction from the conversation we need to have.

The North Sea is in decline, which is just a geological fact. We’ve burned most of our gas, and around 80% of our oil is exported. It plays little role in UK energy security.

Current wildfire situation in Europe See the most recent data on the forest fire situation in the EU and the weather forecast for the coming days.

Official figures released yesterday show that nearly 440,000 hectares have been burned in wildfires so far this year in the EU

This is more than DOUBLE the size of the area burned this time last year

Unchecked climate change makes this more likely and more dangerous
