Gosh, that’s a really kind offer.
I’ll send you a DM with the details if that’s okay.
Hi #GenHour
This lady’s uniform is now confirmed as being ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service). I’ve also found a catalogue entry for her service record at the National Archives. So far so good.
I’ve also been delving in to Scottish records for the first time.
Good to see work finally starting on the Royal Clarence. You can see the layers of the building without all that tarpaulin. Martins Lane already looking better.
I was on the Cathedral Green the day the unsafe parts of the facade was demolished almost 10 years ago 2 Nov 2016
Thank you for this. The family thought she hadn’t been in the services but I’ll certainly follow it up.
Wow, that is very modern.
Hello #GenHour
I’ve been asked by a relative to carry out some research on this lady. First question I need to tackle is what is the uniform she’s wearing?

How very sad though this may not be the one your ancestor would have known. This was the chapel of Exminster Hospital (Devon County Asylum ). Exeter Asylum (Digby Hospital) was a few miles away.
I have some photos of both asylums if you haven’t seen them.
Heritage Open Day visit to chapel of old Exminster Asylum (now Exeter Pre-Prep School).
Built 1875 of Heavitree sandstone with Bath stone dressings. Cruciform plan with bellcote over the crossing.
Designed by Exeter architect Joseph Neale.
Good carved details including reredos, capitals and pulpit
