Moths in shades of pink and vines in shades of tan surrounding β€œI dwell in possibility” quote by Emily Dickinson

Moths in shades of pink and vines in shades of tan surrounding β€œI dwell in possibility” quote by Emily Dickinson

I dwell in possibility written in cursive from bottom to top on the left of the poem

I dwell in Possibility -
A fairer House than Prose -
More numerous of Windows -
Superior - for Doors -

Of Chambers as the Cedars -
Impregnable of eye-
And for an everlasting Roof
The Gambrels of the Sky -

Of Visitors - the fairest -
For Occupation - This -
The spreading wide my narrow Hands
To gather Paradise -

Emily Dickinson

Daily Mail owner strikes Β£500m deal to buy Telegraph titles Acquisition likely to trigger in-depth investigation by regulator after agreement between DMGT and Redbird IMI

Well, this is pretty terrifying. The Daily Mail is buying the Telegraph.

One massive consolidated right-wing media empire controlled by off-shore interests at a critical moment in global politics.

What could go wrong?

The combination of unique politics, climate change, and bad luck have brought a true drought emergency to Tehran.

"Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that Tehran’s residents would have to ration waterβ€”and eventually evacuate the capitalβ€”if there was no rain by late November."

Spiders πŸ•·οΈ aren't scary, of course, but one of their "ecosystem services" is providing a bit of spookiness πŸ•ΈοΈ to this evening.

The nature extinction crisis is mirrored by one in our own bodies. Both have huge implications for health Modern life is waging a war against ecosystems around us and inside us. Keeping our own microbes healthy is another reason to demand action to preserve the natural world

A biodiverse world outside creates a healthy microbiome inside.

The same conditions that let wildlife thrive also keeps people healthy.

I like this piece, and I like doing sci comm. But I also think it’s not fair to demand every subject matter expert also be public-facing. Some people are really good at doing and that’s enough. We need more economically viable jobs for full-time sci comm to bridge findings from experts to public.

To any of my fellow science educators, you have to give @skypeascientist.bsky.social a try. They match your class up with a practicing scientist. It has been an awesome experience for my kids. Seriously, sign up for one. You won’t regret it.
