"Artists peak at 30", "30 under 30", "by 30 you should" ridiculous. Arts industries capital craves young people to exploit and burn out. It doesn't want older artists thriving and guiding the young. It also doesn't want artists to exist. Stop letting cannibals tell you you only matter on a plate.

Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse at VA hospital in Minneapolis, was killed by officers of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol last month. He is being memorialized nationwide, but chaplains at VA facilities in MA have been barred from mentioning his name -- or even counseling nurses.

Your work will take exponentially longer to make than prose, and will garner a fraction of the attention. And you may work for ten years on something someone can blast through on a Saturday afternoon. You need to be OK with that, or you'll never be happy.
You are in a niche of a niche, and the potential audience is sized accordingly. If you manage to find a way to support yourself exclusively off of your comics output, that's awesome, but you've beaten the odds.
Don't go in EXPECTING to beat the odds.
