I'll be making YouTube shorts for the 10th anniversaries of every video on my channel as they arrive. These will focus on behind-the-scenes discussion, such as the equipment used to make it and what else I was doing at that point in time.
Check out the first on September 29th, 2026!

Atari Looks VERY Different in France
YouTube video by FrameRater
๐ด Did you know that in France, using the SECAM television standard, Atari games had a completely different color palette? Check out my YouTube Short about it! youtube.com/shorts/4tb5H...

If you could tell people back in 2007 that there would one day be a feature film about this game... they wouldn't believe you.

That's pretty cool, I forgot about internet radio altogether. Haven't done much with it before. I imagine there are less ads? That would be nice.

Anyone else listen to actual AM/FM radio because it feels "alive"? When I do chores I always have music playing and I have TRIED using Spotify instead... but radio, there's a human presence to it. Even old music starts to feel like it has soul again. Curated playlists... it just feels "dead" to me.

Does nostalgia go deeper than we think?
Something I've thought about recently... generations before ours didn't talk about nostalgia this much. Is there an evolutionary reason for it? Are we subconsciously aware that the world we grew up in, or what came before us is better than our world today?

Yeah I've been seeing a lot of similar things, the internet is a damn mess now. Was pretty funny to see it copy YFM though lol.

It makes me sad man, they've fallen into a trap and won't admit that. Wouldn't want to be in that position myself as I imagine it's hard to climb out of.

Man I'm fed up. Within my city I've got plenty of friends to do stuff with but can never get them out of the house. I have verified it's not different friends they're seeing, they don't dislike me in secret, they've just become accustomed and preferential to a life of isolation. I don't get it.

With everything going on in the world right now, I'm surprised glam metal hasn't made a comeback. Seems like the perfect time for that sort of rebellious music. Or just heavy rock in general.

For sure. I've collected a bunch of material over the years regarding things I consider "profound" but have realized (largely by showing it to friends and relatives) that it's VERY subjective and that makes me ponder whether it's substantial enough for people beyond myself to even care about.

I do agree with your points, I think for most that's understandable/relatable. Just a lot of factors in play to determine what's valuable or just based in nostalgia. I've had to double take on a lot of old favourites, realizing their perceived greatness was only from rose-tinted glasses.

Your perspective is of a very different upbringing, which might explain the difference. My family was just mom/dad and they mainly just "existed" in my life, there wasn't much of an environment beyond my own little world. So I think these games have a stronger significance to my childhood by result.

You watched the 2600 video I'm guessing? :P
I wish it was like that. In some cases it is, or you didn't have many friends or things to look forward to then. I'd rather not revisit those periods in time usually. Playing certain comfort games is like seeing an old friend after a long time.

๐ด The anticipated Atari 2600 video is out now! At least I figured it was anticipated. The promo is my most-liked post on Bluesky yet, but the video is tanking in performance. Please consider giving it a watch. ๐ This one took a lot of work to make...

My big Atari 2600 retrospective should(?) be out tomorrow. Approximate length: 35 minutes. 10 years on YouTube and this might be my most enjoyable video yet. Don't miss!

If anyone's wondering why I removed the post about some assuming my content was AI, just got tired of it flooding my comments inbox. It reached far beyond what I expected which was annoying. Wish you could restrict certain things to subscribers...

This game was such a vibe. I certainly miss the 80's simple approach to storytelling. Game was literally "caveman with strong head uses it to defeat his enemies". Nobody wouldn't dare to use that simple of a concept now.

My upcoming Atari 2600 video will not have directly captured gameplay recordings. All will be filmed right from this CRT. We've come full circle.
