It's not just more efficient - once you have installed the solar (or wind) and the equipment to use it, you're not dependent on a volatile commodity market so not subject to supply disruptions or price swings.

Now of course you can't just plug a PV panel directly into a car - it might cost 2-3 times more than the panel itself to install it in a field or roof and commission it. Fossil fuel infrastructure also costs a lot, but it's mainly already built so that is largely a sunk cost.

So a single solar panel produces about *100 times more useful energy* than a tank of petrol.

100%. This also sidesteps that LLMs are explicitly sold as cheating and anti-labor tools. The ads and influencers students watch all show them how to use it to cheat. Workers are forced to use it or be fired, but get replaced anyway once it’s trained to a bare minimum standard. It’s not hidden.
